I'm not an so early adopter to the squeeze world and MIP was being abandon even then . So I understands if MIP have problem to gain new users , it a bit of a threshold to get in on it . However if some one writes a smart mix app that's just installs via the plugins menu and just works , I think

Certainly has potential. I'd design it with analogue and S/PDIF outputs in every unit, then have a 1Tb disk or T-Amp as optional modules for folks who want in-build storage or amp. Of course Logitech could have done this 2 years ago, and with a proven s/w stack but they chose to flush

It depends. The server can act as a proxy and buffers Radio streams at least when you start syncing devices (as they all need the same offset). Unsynced there is an option for each player under the audio settings. 'mp3 streaming method' which can be set to direct or proxied streaming.

Oh by the way : in the same settings you can activate bitrate limiting. This will reduce the network load and maybe you can get happy with this option and your Archos? It's a per player setting so does not affect the others.

What do you mean by 'keeps running'? You see the symbol in the action bar longer than 15 min? What happens if you force quit OrangeSqueeze via the App settings? Does the symbol disappear after the next 15min?
