I have a problem with squeezeslave (I believe) failing to connect to any
audio device.
The squeezeslave in question is self-compiled i64-alsa-display version,
but I have also tried pre-compiled squeezeslaves of versions 1.2 and
1.1, all of which have the same problem.

The Cambridge player appears to read NTFS or FAT32 files so it would not
work with a Linux system unless you had an NTFS partition with your
music files rather than the default EXT4

Moved to Apple TV a while back and don't regret it.
The sb2 is in the drawer now waiting for the call from a tech museum or

The server can act as a proxy and buffers Radio streams at least when
you start syncing devices (as they all need the same offset).
Unsynced there is an option for each player under the audio settings.
'mp3 streaming method' which can be set to direct or proxied streaming.
Oh by the way : in the same settings you can activate bitrate limiting.
This will reduce the network load and maybe you can get happy with this
option and your Archos? It's a per player setting so does not affect the
others.
my main concern is: who will support LMS? lately my LMS scans aren't
picking up iTunes playlists, and it may be because of iTunes 11. Who's
going to keep LMS alive and well?

You see the symbol in the action bar longer than 15 min?
What happens if you force quit OrangeSqueeze via the App settings? Does
the symbol disappear after the next 15min?
