You might want to consider Roon if...
a) you already have one or more Squeezeboxes (Roon will work with them)
b) you don't mind spending a bit of money (Roon has an annual
subscription fee or you can buy a lifetime license)
c) you want a far better UI than LMS provides

I'm a long time LMS/Squeezebox user - nearly a dozen years now... I owe
a huge debt of gratitude to all those that have kept LMS afloat after
Logitech ditched it. So for me to consider leaving it behind is no
easy decision.
With that said, the rich Roon UI and environment runs circles around it

No iPeng! There is still no iPhone app to control Roon and what does
exist for an iPad will only work on the newest iPads. But, Roon does
have such apps on their roadmap so I suspect we'll see it so

The original post stated that you could run LMS on it locally. Is that
realistic or more like running LMS on a SB Touch (i.e. technically
doable but with great restrictions).

Roon works fine with Touch and Duet. Haven't yet tried it with a

Hey, I've been a huge Squeezebox fan since the very early SlimDevices

With that said, Roon is a game changer when it comes to how you listen

In anticipation of the Squeezebox support coming soon, I popped for a

I purchased a Touch off ebay not too long ago. I think if you find a
seller that has good ratings and they say it's in good condition, you're

And while 7.9 is 'beta', it is rock solid with many nice features over

OK, I'm 2 weeks+ into my Tidal 30 day trial. Will we see a public beta

Yep, have been for quite some time. Haven't heard anything.

Actually, I agree To my ears, Tidal does sound better than Spotify
when set on the HiFi setting (lossless). Is that lossless vs Spotify's

before and didn't hear as much difference as I do between Spotify and
Tidal. I wa
HDTracks.com and LinnRecords.com are known for their hi-res/studio

If/when Amazon offers lossless downloads, it wil
+1 on wanting/willing to buy lossless music (i.e. flac) online and

likely to buy CDs and rip to flac. I have no desire to buy lossy MP3
music.

I've heard good things about using an iDevice with iPeng and the Pure
i-20 dock (< $100) which serves as both a DAC with analog outs or using
its digital output to your own DAC -- both options better than just
using the iDevice headphone output.
It would seem that Logitech abandoning the manu
While I'm not about to dump my Squeezeboxen anytime soon, one product
that I'm curious about is the AudioEngine D2. I'm not clear if you can
bypass the D2 Receiver's DAC to use your own, but the concept of a D2
Sender working with up to 3 D2 Receivers is intriguing. Might be worth
checking out..

I believe the Duet will only stream 24/48 but will down-convert cleanly.
The Touch streams 24/96.
I simply store my 24/96 flac files as I do any other CD-ripped flac
files. SqueezeCenter knows what to do.

I have a set of about a dozen or so Favorites composed of Internet radio

Any ideas?

I had a similar situation... I then held down the brightness button on
the SB remote to force reload/update the firmware and all returned to
normal after reboot. Not sure if it really did get new firmware or if
it was just the reboot.
