I now have a Zyxel router in my office, and will start investigating
the compatibility problems in more detail tomorrow. I am expecting this
is a _hard_ problem, so don't expect a quick turnaround on this bug.

Controller does not actually need to do a firmware update, the message
is wrong. You'll be prompted if an update is actually required. This is
fixed on the 7.0.1 beta release.

It may be worth you trying the 7.0.1 beta release. Last week we did some
optimization on the artwork download for the controller. This included
using jpeg's for the artwork, allowing for a faster download and more

Ah, you didn't mention you were running the 7.0.1 beta releases. It's
important to keep both SqueezeCenter and the Controller both up to
date. The problem you are seeing may be because the versions are
slightly incompatible.

Could you look in 'Settings Advanced Wireless Network your
network name'. What information is displayed, in particular what is

You could also try swapping your Squeezeboxes around. Is it always the
same Squeezebox that reboots wherever you put it, or does any of the
Squeezeboxes reboot in that one location?

It sounds like your Squeezebox was not correctly reset after the factory
test. You should do a factory reset (press and hold add while the
Squeezebox is booting). This is an automated process, so I'm not sure
why the reset did not happen on your unit.

Well I've already fixed the knob problem in the latest firmware in the
6.5.1 beta release. And if it did still cause you a problem it would be
on my bug list to fix again for a later release. In the worst case it is
easy to unplug the knob.

I have just released Softsqueeze 2.6, it should be in the next nightly
releases of the slimserver and also on sourceforge (although the
sourceforge site seems a little sick at the moment).
This should improve the UI performance on OS X so Softsqueeze will be
usable again.

the maximum block size is reached. This helps control
the playback latency, but this approach does increase the risk of an
audio buffer underrun at the start of a track. Only with wider testing
can we be sure the balance here is correct.

an off by one error in the Softsqueeze audio buffer, but
have run out of time to do more testing now (it's bedtime here in the
uk!). If this version does not fix the problem, could you try using
jlayer to decode the mp3. I think this will work ok.
