All,
problem has been fixed with SS ver 6.5.2 and related Squeeze FW 81. For
the moment I would stay with that. Hope the 6.5.2 will come out as an
official release soon, I don't like to go with BETAs...

Well you are making my point exactly. I would not know how to do neither
1 or 2 unless I use few hours digging in these forums to see what other
people suggests or look into the directories myself to find out where
those files are.
Why not then just make it a "sticky" note at the top of this foru
But, as pointed out before in this thread and others, there is no need
for a full install of nightly 6.5.2.
It is only necessary to either:
1) update the firmware via SqueezeNetwork and adjust the version file
manually, or
2) grab the firmware & version file from the latest nightly upload.

Uhm, that doesn't seem to be exactly the same issue. As far as I know
our problem here is "just" that you need to install a beta release to
get out of the

How much in the firmware changes between releases (e.g. 6.5.1 -> 6.5.2)
that is incompatible with the older version? We know in this case that
there are fixes for SqueezeNetwork which probably don't impact
SlimServer. Can the firmware have a variable that tells SlimServer the

Slim/Logitech had a choice: keep Pandora/Rhapsody broken for all, or
check in a firmware fix that would mean the official release is out of
synch with the SqueezeNetwork firmware.
On one hand, Pandora and Rhapsody wouldn't work for anybody. Fatal
error. No more Pandora or Rhapsody.

But you don't need a full install of 6.5.2 to cure this 'problem'
The only files required are from the slimserver/Firmware folder.
Maybe the developers could make this available as a seperate download,
until the official 6.5.2 release??

There will always be bugs in software. Nightly, beta, triple stamped
gold releases. Doesn't matter.
The official SlimServer releases tend to get rushed out the door due to
some other cicrumstances. Shipment of the new Squeezebox2, the
Transporter, etc.

Internal testing and bug reports from beta testers can only go so far.
This is why every sorfware vendor has to release updates and patches,
no matter how careful they are or how m

Is that not slightly mad? If SD are providing 'release' versions,
these should be the most bug-free and stable versions available,
surely?

I agree but that does not solve the problem.
I do not want to start invoking the UKs Sale of Goods Act which I will

Back to your warranty fiasco. Tell your supplier he's an idiot.

With me using the nightly updates to cure the firmware update loop
caused freezing of the Transporter for which Slim Devices Support could
not provide a solution I had to resort back to 6.5.1. The nightly 6.5.2
is regarded by my supplier as Beta software and is not covered by the

Thanks for the answer, sorry, I searched the forum but I missed the

For me it isn't an option to update to a (incomplete/buggy etc.)
nightly version and I can't understand why I need to downgrade the

There have been several recent threads about this. Try the link below
to understand the reasons, or just upgrade to 6.5.2 which seems to be
the preferred solution...

Hi,
I've got a really annoying problem when I switch from SqueezeNetwork to
my SlimServer and vice versa. Each time I switch the source I need to
"update" the firmware of my SqueezeBox V3. I'm using the latest
released SlimServer 6.5.1, which updates my SB3 to V72, SqueezeNetwork
updates it back
