Another method which I use is to rip to specific directories and then
simply use a windows shortcut to include those you want in the 'SS
Music Folder'. This is the same method you would use to access more
than one hard drive or partition.

Recently I installed SlimServer 6.2, some MP3s in my collection don't
show up, that worked fine under 5.4.
Doesn't show up under Browse Music Folder either, and I read
somewhere that this uses filenames only (in 6.2) and
I have a PSP and a Dell Axim X3. I would say that's it's easier to
navigate using the PDA. The PSP's analogue nub is a bit imprecise.
In terms of connecting to the Wireless network, the PSP was a doddle,
took 5 mins to configure. Pity it's only 802.11b though.

Are both AP running at the same time? If so, and they are being used
as DHCP servers to get the IP address for the SB this might cause the
169.254.xxx.xxx problem.
Try turning off the old AP and see if that helps.

SS doesn't care about the offical MP3 genre list.
But I believe it is a bit flaky at picking up genre changes on existing
files.
Have you checked the re-tagged files have the correct genre in SS?

it seems the real problem now is that, for some reason, the SB is
fixated on the 169.254 address.
I dont know if the following is possible, as I do not use my router as
a DHCP server. I run a full domain setup with WIN SBS 2003. The
router and server PC have fixed IP's issued by the SBS
I'll go back and have a look at the tags iTunes put on these files.
Annoyingly, if the file has ID1.1 ID2.x tags, iTunes will only update
the 2.x tags. I then have to go into winamp and use the Copy to ID1.1
button to synch the tags.

I also tried the Roku first as it is advertised better... ie, it's
available in your local Best Buy when your shopping. But, I could
never even get it to work after a frustrating week of trying

If you mean download a file, yes. If you mean stream and playback in
real-time, no.
I did try running Softsqueeze on the PSP, but the built in browser does

Media Centre reports that I have 9867 songs in my library, If I search
for *.flac and *.m4a in my library folder, windows finds 9867 files.
Slimserver says that I have 9823 songs, even after a full delete and
rescan.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to track down the missing 44
