Yes - via Control Panel - Regional Settings.
I spent a couple of hours earlier in the week playing with Regional and
Language Options in Windows XP, specificallly Language for non-UNICODE
programs. However, no changes I made there had any effect on the code

That's weird. What user is it set to run as? Should be System - that
will cause it to run at startup. Do you have any software firewalls
installed? They may block network access if no one is logged in.

It's set up run using my account, not LocalSystem. This is to enable it
to access network shares that LocalSystem has no access to.
There are no firewalls (software or otherwise) between SlimServer and
the machine I am accessing it from.

With recent (6.2 and later server) you need the off screensaver to be
set to Date and Time. Once you have this, the brightness button
