Hi all,
I have 2 Squeezeboxes at home Slim Server 6.2.1 on XP. All works well
as it has done for quite a few years.
I've just starting playing with remote streaming for the first time,
and have run into a problem.
I can browse the server fine remotely, and also stream mp3 files.
However, when I
My guess:
1. Missing port 9000 in the URL

It's not a connectivity issue, as I can stream mp3s fine. In fact I'm

Slimpy - how long does it take for your Canton's to go into standby?
It's been 20 minutes (21:50 right now :) since I powered off the MP3

Are you picking up any hum from the power line?
Are there any power lines near the interconnects? If they pick up a
hum, the hum will prevent an auto-off amp from going into standby.
This used to happen with my subwoofer.
If you have to be near power lines, cross them at right angles - don't
You can only stream MP3 to non-SoftSqueeze players such as Winamp. To
create the MP3 stream from your AAC file you need to install Lame which
is an MP3 encoder.
You also need to specify the maximum remote bitrate for the player -
this will trigger the use of Lame to transcode the AAC stream
I don't necessarily want/need to stream in mp3 format, I hust need a
solution that will play my AAC files - as that's most of my library.
Can I steam in AAC to a suitable player (iTunes?) at the remote end?
Thanks,

Well, just a minute or 2 after moving the MP3 player the speakers went

It may well be that they take an hour to go into standby,

No, a remote stream will always be in mp3 format.
SlimServer should tell you if LAME is properly installed or not in the
section where you specify bitrate.

Problem solved, put the jump back entry in the second screensaver line
