I want to express my Thank You to everyone who contributed over the
years to the creation and development of the Squeezebox product line.
I was looking for CD changers/jukebox type arrangements and had found
nothing suitable, then I found you. It was love at first sight. Your
system changed my
1 SB3 classic, which was replaced by a Touch, is now my only spare
unit.
I'm looking for another Touch and I'm waiting for people giving up the
sequeezebox series, once the news have been spreaded wide.
But probably a lot of other people are thinking similar ;)

All of these are still working perfectly and I am obviously hoping they
do so for some years to come.
Of the SB3s one is Logitech branded and black, the other SlimDevices

If it weren't for people like Ben, Michael, Andy, Dean, Felix, Richard,
Sean, etc., I think the squeezebox would have withered much sooner than
this. Ben gave us a glimpse in a recent posting of the inner workings
of the team and how they championed the Squeezebox and stayed true to
the cause.

At a guess, some user will not be happy with the analogue and spdif
interfaces on these boxes
Anybody looked at the options from Linn, Cyrus and Naim? All of then
offer music streamers which will play your local music collection and
Internet radio via Ethernet and/or WiFi. I think some of them also offer
other services like Spotify. Just wondering how these compare to
SqueezeBox hardware.

I agree, despite owning some fantastic Naim amps. Streaming is computer
technology - there is nothing mystical about it that needs hi-fi
expertise. Buy one of their DACs if you wish, or an amp with an inbuilt
DAC, but just plug a SB

on this thread please. I have two SB Touch (one of which is sealed),
one SB Radio and SBS on a ReadyNas Duo.
All bar the sealed Touch are operating on latest firmware/updates. I
have copies of the last 4 updates for SBS
I do have a concern that the alternative hardware pressed into use
should be able to deliver a clean bitream to a quality DAC.
I'm not an obsessive audiophile, but I would be keen to see decent
engineering standards maintained, and those need not be expensive.

My strategy for extending the life of my devices is the autodim plugin
which shuts off the screens when I'm asleep, so hopefully that will help
them endure. I think I set up my radio using switch saver to do the same
at one point.

gig or so, and find that navigating through my music folders (on a NAS)
is slow. The albums/artists caching is great but I'd much rather go to

Thats another problem due to that slimp3 and sb1 have much smaller
buffers , I can see it be a bit problematic to make syncing code that
works perfect in this scenario .
