My Alarm works since the early days (somewhere around 2006/7) without
any odd behavior.
It starts every weekday with an internal playlist and stops like it
should.

The only addon for the alarm thats on my personal wishlist is a "dont
wake me up on a National holiday". Of curse i added this feature in a
external bash script.

Buy a cheap rpi3 or nanopi4m and run that 24/7 for lms only. Dont mix
your normal stuff with it and your fine.
How long do you need to calculate the 17th position of pi? -> Depends on
your math skills!
Same as windows -> linux.
And a cheap RPI is small and handy you can fiddle thing out everywhere.

Its already hardcoded to 20seconds.
btw: lets think about the end is like Volume up to 100%
30(min) / 100(percent) = 0.33 percent per minute
that means in 3 minutes the Volume must jump from 0.0 Mute to 1% - that
means you wouldnt hear anything unless ... minutes (depends on your amp)

Thats everything else but strange...

If you got some devices with big capacitors in that line and kick the
breaker the capacitors from that device sends their power back to the
powerlines.
And theses breakers are not supposed to act like a switch - they should
safe you not your devices.

And that can bring a "10% faulty device to a 100% faulty device".

Re: [slim] How to retain active playlist when squeezebox service is restarted

2018-11-17 Thread DJanGo

And i found another usecase for it..

I do run Alarms on some players.

Whenever that Alarm is active it wipes the last playlist from that
player and adds the alarmplaylist/file as its playlist.
So it doesnt matter if that particular DSTM is a bug or a feature.

If you really what do "save" your last active playlist when using alarms
- you need to save it by hand or script.

i am pretty sure its a feature not a bug

eg /plugins/playhistory (also from Michael) do show these tracks.

There was a discussion about "i started with this track and dtsm drifts
away from my track" so the feature (i believe so) is - "if you dont
touch the playlist made from dtsm and you restart your server - dtsm
will start from scratch with your "touched" playlist not with its own.

Anyway i am happy with it (and i even have No worries to hack the "add
track button" out of my skin)
If you think its a issue ask Michael about it.

btw: there is a "issue" in the script

it always move the first tracks to 2.nd postion when there is a 2nd
Track and moves it back to its org. position to ensure dstm filled
playlists are updated.
By doing this the filestamp of the playlist is changed before copied to
the playlistdir.
And that makes the check for newer files later a little bit useless.

Other than that it should work

first please make sure you've got an answer

Code:

which nc
  which sed

otherwise you need to install nc / sed before any further action.

save the script, make it executable and let it run

The last line is not working because of the # in front
If you remove that # your lms starts scanning your playlists - snce your
runing a rpi i wasnt sure if you really want that.

Feel free to test it before you add it as a cronjob. You should end in a
playlist in your playlistfolder for every player named
playername_hour.m3u.
If you run it always @ the same hour it should do what you want.

Code:

  #!/bin/bash

add two lines in front of your crontab similar to this:

Code:

  printf "pl:ay:er:ma:ca:dd:re:ss playlist move 0 1\nexit \n"|nc 127.0.0.0 9090
  printf "pl:ay:er:ma:ca:dd:re:ss playlist move 1 0\nexit \n"|nc 127.0.0.0 9090

That moves the 1st file to 2.nd place and back again.
And that move is recon by lms and it saves the cached playlist.

If yes - just add another / remove any track on your own to the playlist

Adding tracks from dstm didnt didnt trigger "change the cached / stored

I' ve added
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Debian_Package#installing_7.9.2 -
but cant add the "whole" script cause there is a url involved that
requires me to type a chapta - and the chapta server is down.
Could you fix this please?
May your not required to use a chapta.

Hi
is this a single player or synced players?

in case of a single player (with alsa) you only need to kill the
squeezelitesession play that beep with aplayer or whatever other
audioplayer max2play deliveres and restart squeezelite again.

in case of synced players you need a little bit more.
playlist preview & play (your beep) & playlist resume

To answer my own "question" - maybe...

eg running a clean scan from scratch -> no library.db (with the std.

running a clean scan over the gui on the same hardware/software needs 22
mins.
The is some very little minor difference if using DROP TABLE IF EXISTS

Hi Michael,

is that because of /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/lib/DBIx/Migration.pm
that calls /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/SQL/SQLite/schema_20_up.sql

Code:

DROP TABLE IF EXISTS fulltext;

it "seems" your running two networks - both have a route to the internet
but the bluetooth didnt have a route to your local lan ->your netgear

You need to add routings from the bt to the lan and vive versa from lan

Hmmm...

thats what i understand:

All tracks on your sampler got the same Value in TPE2.
That means a Artist like "Air" and "Various Artists" sharing the same
Track and therefore the same genres, years and so on.

Please ask Michael Herger whats he thinks about that.
If someone really doesnt need to think about it cause he already knows
it- its him.

I would open a sqlite shell and run your sql statement with -limit 1

Code:

sqlite> select tracks.id from tracks LEFT JOIN comments comments ON
comments.track = tracks.id where comments.value LIKE 'aaa' limit 1;

That should show one match.
copy that value
add it in a browserlink
http://lms:9000/trackinfo.html?sess=that_id

you should see a track with the comment aaa
works for me

Thats exactly how it works.

But:
if someone set the value for show new tracks to eg 1 there is only a
single track.
or using "backups" from somewhere and copy the files with the timestamps
- it never apears under new unless these files are newer than (set
counter) than any other track.
Just edit the tags of the files, do a rescan and voila.

In this case LMS is very reliable if you understood the logic behind it.

Hi,

- install and run the pivpn setup from the 'howto'
- open a single port on your Router eg 1194 and net it to your rpi
  with pivpn
- remove /close all the previous opened ports
- transfer the vpn config to your devices that should connect to your
  lms
- your done

That i simple safe and you can also run a squeezelite on that system -
so not ending with a additional device that only can handle a single

Re: [slim] Ratings to files

2018-04-07 Thread DJanGo

Hi,

since he already had that csv - the main question is:

Is that a onetime task only or a aldayrunner?

A onetime solution (minimal) should look like:

Export 10 playlists each for a rating.

Import that playlist with eg, mp3tag and mark all tracks and add a tag
(popm whatever) with 1 or similar rating.
Repeat these steps for all playlists.

A alltime runner should also check is the rating already in the tag if
not change / add that rating to the file.
I would prefer a simple cmd for that - the python demo from Roland
(IMHO) only make sense if the Filenames/paths are UTF-8 like
> x:\Røyksopp\The Girl and The Robot\Røyksopp - The Girl and The Robot -
> 01 - The Girl and The Robot (Album Version).mp3
Changing strings like that is a mess with vbs/cmd/powershell and a fun
with python.
If "thats" not needed - python is too complex for a "excel is a
database" user.

Re: [slim] Ratings to files

2018-04-02 Thread DJanGo

Hi,

looks like a pretty simple job, but it isnt simple.
eg Excel isnt a database (that statement alone tells me about your IT
Knowledge)

Since LMS never ever touches /changes tags only reads them - there is
IMHO no way to do that with a plugin. cause that would break the "never
change tags with lms behavior"
you need:

- A commandline tagger for your files and os. excel runs on osx and
windows - not native on linux. you os is???
- A prefered tag to use (there are some to use)
- a csv file with your ratings nd your filepath/names
- some script that changes the tags for each filename with the
  ratings
- that script must check "if exist file then" cause some special chars
in the lms db are not the real one -> " " is called %20 and so on
- some debugging

you see its not that simple as it looks on the first place but its not
impossible.

Hi,
source is your Music store
dest is your backupdisk

to only copy files larger than 1MB ->

find *source* -type f -size +1024k -exec cp {} *dest* \;

if you have jpg in the folders you should run a
find *source* -type f -name '*.jpg' -exec cp {} *dest* \;
afterwards

But dont delete the old sourcefiles !

I do own much stuff thats under 1MB in size and these files are just
shorter tracks / Intros outros

Hi,

1: no way
2: did you do a cleanup and rebuild databse from scratch already?
3: What System? There are many of them and each one uses other ways to
only copy files larger than x bytes.

Hi, thats a tough one...

to find the Track Papa was a Rolling Stone from the Album All Directions
you need to build a json like this:

@Tim:
The "clever" People are the People that causes Michael to open this
Thread and thinks about a "solution" or minimize the worst case
szenario.

AFAIK Michael wants a solution that the settings from LMS (even when the
LMS Server IP & Ports are forwarded to the Internet) are "safer" then
now.

Your idea (completly disable the access except for "known" IPs) sounds
clever and might be a better solution, but (the people we are talking
about) would redo these changes (if MIcheal would add them in a next
Version) cause that would stopp these people to access their LMS from
allover the World.

Since setting up a VPN isnt that easy/simple and we're dealing with lots
of different devices and usecases..

@d6jg
There are only two options

- The more common "easy" Way: The Router handles Gateway and VPN
- The "special" Szenario with a *d*e*m*ilitarized *z*one - used by
Techies where Router & Firewall are separate devices

Hi,

sounds like a "clever" idea but

1)
Who should change that setting?

The Installer/updater on a clean install -> yes
The Installer/updater on a update install ->
The Installer/updater on a update install where -allowedHosts: 127.*,-
not in the Server.prefs-> yes

2)
Remember the guys we are talking about are "clever" - when Michael
changes these settings for them -> They cant use lms from outside (and
these clever guys are stupid enough to change that setting back to
something they think of)

IMHO Michael had the "better" Idea with "lms is available from
everywhere but the settings are only from internal except Gateway

mea culpa i just forget the NAT/Routing Mode from some devices

There is the transparent Mode and the NAT/Routing Mode thats the one
Michael is using. That Mode really translates the external IP from
sender/receiver to the router.

Hi,

whatever Joe uses it must be somewhere up2date. And needs some minimal
security.

Using VPN or not is a big difference.
Cracker Jimboy needs to crack/hack/socialengineering your vpn settings.
Thats a big step for him - unless Joe uses some very old methods for his
vpn.
Simply natting a vpn port to the world - is a bad idea - whatever port
your natting everyone who scans for open ports finds the real service
behind that very soon and very easy.

I dont think any Joe on linux is using tools like faillock or something
else.
Maybe some using something like iptables to only allow ssh from special
ips only.

So what do you expect me to do?
Tell joe what do to on his 512MB NAS ?
Tell joe dont do it unless you really know what your doing?

mea culpa Michael,

but thats a little bit tooo short

Remember under a actual version of Raspbian ssh isnt activated out of
the box any more because of security reasons.

Its not a question of a well configured ssh- its a matter of strong
passwords for users that could access ssh.

Since i am in charge for the computer stuff in my company and should
know some tricks and basics - i cant say ssh from outside is somewhere
near safe.

I my younger Days i experimented a lot (more than now).
Even when i found LMS 7.9 is really fast i'd tried to run my cache in a
RAMDisk (in my older days i just run the db in a Ramdisk)

I didnt found any difference - except the boot and reboot needs more
time to save the RAMdisk to the Harddisk by shutdown and vice verse on a
startup.
[\1/2 OT]

- DONT use a RAMDISK in Windows - Winblows cant handle a RAMdisk
- DONT use a RAMDISK on LMS > 7.9 - The DB is already in the RAM

Re: [slim] Big argument in favor of doing a full rescan

2017-11-08 Thread DJanGo

I do full rescans on a regular base - since lms 7.9 its even faster than
ever.

But you must not forget that a clean scan always deletes more than just
your db.
All the cached sites are wiped also - that means the webgui from lms is
a little bit slower, cause everything in ./templates had to be
rewritten.

If you reorganize a bunch from your library files/folders a clean scan
is (my) way to go.

if you using some plugins like artist information and you add only
tracks from already known artists - that plugin didnt need to fetch and
manage artist info for these Artists anymore. If you add fresh artist -
it had to and needs time.

If you using a "dedicated" LMS Server with free ram - (like me) you
could expect always nearly the same amount of time for a scan.
If you didnt - you cant expect that.

If you reboot your lms Server System and do a rescan - it may be faster
than a rescan with some ram usage of eg. firefox or similar.

In my long time with lms i can tell you RAM & CPU and the way your
library is attached to the lms system - that matters for scantime.

Debian Strech 81.453 Tracks from 2.549 on a I7 3.8 Ghz System with 8GB
Ram needs 31 minutes.
Debian Strech 81.453 Tracks from 2.549 on a Pentium M 1.8 Ghz System
with 4 GB Ram needs 51 minutes.

Hi.

if you are using more than one player - the url shows always the last
used player...

Saver way is to add ?player=yo:ur:pl:ay:er:id to the link.
eg
http://URL_TO_SERVER:9000/html/SqueezeJS/now.html?player=ca:fe:04:dj:an:g0

Simply by adding the mac adress from the player

eg:
http://lms-server:9000/music/current/cover.jpg?player=ca:fe:04:dj:an:g0

2017-05-10 Thread DJanGo

If you use the ip from your lms without the port -there is no answer
back from the server cause he only uses this port for http.

OPen a shell and try to ping the servers ip.

Did you use http://ip:9000 or just ip:9000?
Use the correct way with http://

are you talking about Vortexbox ootb ?
If yes please ask there - imho the vb forums is not offline anymore.

If not - where did you change the playername?
is there any option like -n player in the localplayerpluginsettingspage
set?

Since the Vortexboxguys didnt manage to get their Forum up again - some

AFAIK the players need to "merge" the two audiotracks to one. That needs
to be sorted before the next track ist on the way to the player.
IMHO the blend works when adding the next track while the actual is
playing less than 1/3 or less than the overblendtime.

*nope* you didnt understand our question

there is a room called ssid with two entrances. We "knew" that all your
stuff should be in that room called ssid.
But we want to know - in which entrace that one device had entered your
room.

To make this post short:
Grab yourself some powerlan devices like TP-Link TL-PA4010PKIT AV500
Powerline Netzwerkadapter and put one into your ISP Router and the other
to your Host Bridge (main wlan router) and move these two devices in the
neighbourhood of your living room.

If you buy them online you can send them back - if its not working - but
believe me - its working far better than your actual setup.

btw: its always a wise idea to use static ip addresses for static
devices.
you should limit the dhcp range from eg. 101 to 254 and use static ips
for all your non mobile stuff below 100 and leave the rest of the range
for your tablets, smartphones whatever.

Re: [slim] RadioStream stopps after 20sec. playing and never resumes

2016-12-27 Thread DJanGo

Salve,

ins Netz spuckt. Obwohl - ein neuer Nachbar - drei neue ssids - jetzt
hab ich auch wieder aufrüsten müssen...

ok how is your isp Router connected? Coax "Cable" or two line
"Telephone"?

You have to know - how your setup is working and that your 2.nd "router"
(its a routing Bridge) in fact halfs your Bandwith cause its acting as
sender abd reciever over wlan.

I would move the ISP router to your desktop router in case of two wire
its a peace of cake in case of coax you'll need the help from the cable
provider (the shield between the in House ISP Connection point and your
ISP provided Router) must be ~ 95 dB!!! You cannot lengthen or shorten
it whitout changing the internal resitor.

Or buy some lan over power devices between the ISP Roter and your two
Wlan Bridges.

He talks about Client Bridge Mode -> thats a wlan2wla connection between
both bridges (wlan devices)

the log told us - dns hickups - that might be "ok" if its @ the same
time his ISP gets him a new ip - but who knows.
Could you please check that?
Error occours @ the same time your ip lease ix new.

Please look at your ddwrt - where is the "buggy" device attached to?
Do you use same or different channels?

Hi,

a "upgrade" is sometimes not a good idea.

Please make a screenshoot from your Plugins - delete all your Plugins
and start from scratch.

"old" plugins where updated all the time when a newer Version is there.
But "old" plugins that are not supported anymore - may causing a busy
system.
These were not deleted when you upgrade from an "very old" system.

dhcp or static ip? use static

power off your lms server
get another system and ping your lms with parameter -t
get a smartphone with some timer app
start the lms server and start the timer
stop the timer when there is a answer
tell us that time
