Re: [slim] LMS Scanner 8.31 failing
I finally got the scanner to complete a scan. I did run SFC on my LMS computer and it found a few errors which were fixed. I also performed further file integrity scans on a few music folders and removed a few hundred damaged files. I have since run several "new or changed" rescans without any errors in the log. So, LMS is my friend again, at least for now. Until it's not, I guess. I'm tempted to run a complete rescan just to see if I can. *LMS is the meaning of life.* At least on this forum. Happy New Year. Re: [slim] LMS Scanner 8.31 failing
On like the 10th try, the scanner stalled at about the same place but I left it scanning because I wasn't watching it closely. Inexplicably, the scanner started moving again and completed scanning my nearly 450k files. However, it now stalls and aborts early in the artwork pre-caching stage. I saw in one of the scanner logs that a GIF was corrupt. I then scanned all my files for corrupt picture files with Bad Peggy. I found and deleted less than 100 bad graphics files but the scanner still aborts at the pre-caching stage. Thoughts? Mine are as follows: 1. Why did LMS happily scan my files until recently yet there have been no substantial changes to my setup other than Windows updates and Plex updates? 2. Why does it stall when newly scanning files at about 75k and then resume scanning as if nothing happened? 3. Why does the scanner stall on the artwork pre-caching now and completely abort? I like detective work but I would rather just use the system. Fortunately the system does play now, at least. I have attached the scanner log again and a screenshot to show where it stalls/aborts. Thanks for any help. [slim] NAS + Squeezebox + Plex
There comes a time when everyone needs to buy or build a NAS. If I buy or build one, I would certainly like to have my 14 TB of music installed in it also. What are the considerations for using it as a Squeezebox server also? I will also use it as a Plex server for videos and movies and offsite music listening. Naturally this would require a bit more "oomph." Can someone suggest a build including OS or something pre-built that would literally serve my 3 purposes: NAS + Squeezebox server + Plex server. [slim] Incredible NEW 11.6 inch touchscreen Squeezebox player with Bluetooth
Well, I'm sure someone has thought of this but anyway... A really nice large touchscreen Squeezebox player can be made from ANY TOUCHSCREEN CHROME NOTEBOOK, ESPECIALLY ONE THAT CONVERTS TO A TABLET (FOR EXAMPLE, THE FLEX 3) SQUEEZE-CTRL AS AN INTERFACE FOR THE TOUCHSCREEN ANDROID SQUEEZEBOX PLAYER BLUETOOTH SPEAKERS Price range 50 USD and up depending on if you want it refurbed or not. The Squeeze-CTRL interface really makes it finger friendly. While the speakers don't usually sound too great, the Bluetooth sure does. What do you think? [slim] Squeezebox: ruined to redemption - a story
I a long-term SB user. I've had just about every pre-build player and I have built a few picoplayers. I have a relatively large digital music collection. Unfortunately as you may know from a post from me in the distant past, I had a digital disaster. My music library became corrupted and the backups only backed up the corrupt files. The corruption occurred due to an errant USB controller on the music library hard drive array. It turns out 20-30% of all my files became corrupted; that's a lot of files. I tried scanning for them and eliminating them but I had to do it manually and only got through a few letters in the alphabet before I became fatigued. I then looked critically at the corrupted files and found a date range involved in the corruption (a few years worth). I then wholesale eliminated all the files in those date ranges. I also had some older back-ups on several USB hardrives BEFORE I had the array enclosure that had the bad USB port. I then put everything that I felt was uncorrupted onto a new hard drive array but SqueezeServer would not complete the scans. I then scanned all the files again looking for corrupted cover art and eliminated a few hundred corrupted .jpg files. After that, I tried using the latest version of SB, version 8.01, I believe. For the first time in literally years since the disaster occurred, I now have the system up and running again. I have incorporated some Yamaha MusicCast speakers which sound throughout the house and I'm rocking it. I lost thousands of files but I am not adding in files gradually again for the first time in years. Moral of the story: check file integrity periodically, I guess. Good luck. http://zzzone.net http://have-a-nice-day.org http://www.last.fm/user/zzzoneDOTnet http://somethingsomethingsomething.net SBS 7.9 - i7 nuc - Win 10 64bit 5 Booms, 2 Radio, 3 Touch, 1 Duet, 5 piCorePlayers including 3 touchscreen, 1 Avy 2 controllers, various tablets/phones Apps including iPeng, Squeeze Ctrl etc. 'Library' (http://zzzone.net/photo/2009/music1.jpg): 250,000+ FLAC/MP3 files - 16 TB HD jimzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17592 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114889 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Scanning new music database: stalling at building text index
I have posted previously how my particular configuration which I have built up over years at one point included a fatal flaw: a USB controller corrupted 25% or more of my music library and since I didn't know it, it corrupted the back-ups too. So recently I have found older backups in my archives that are not corrupted. I recently put them into a couple of NAS drives in a hard drive enclosure and have started restoring the UNcorrupted files. There are about 250k files I have about 8 TB of files, more or less. I'm using a RAM disk for the Squeezebox database/cache; the RAM disc is 8 GB in size. I'm running the latest Windows beta from 10/22/2020 for my Squeezebox software. For some reason, the software will not complete the scan: it always stalls at step 2 of 7 of "building the full text index". I checked the RAM disc and less than a third of it is occupied. I have attached the scanner log. Thoughts? TIA. [slim] Standalone players - non-Logitech?
Hi. I have another thread that I posted in where my 4 Booms stopped connecting to my new router. *Since I'm not sure that buying yet another router will cure that problem, I'm looking for a player solution that I don't have to assemble that will pretty much out of the box play my LMS server.* 1. I have a bunch of Picoreplayers with Pi touchscreens and they're fine but they don't have DACs and I'm not sure if I have the expertise to add on a DAC and get all the software working; then I have to add on some good amplified speakers. It all seems complicated and relatively expensive 2. I could just get some cheap, touchscreen laptops, add a USB DAC and speakers but that's pretty expensive and kind of overkill for a player 3. [slim] Multiple players offline - HELP
I have a large SB ecosystem which has suddenly shrunk to 3 devices: a Touch and two computers (one ethernet, one wifi) I have completely lost the ability to connect 4 Booms and 3 Picoreplayers. 1. The Booms (I gave each a factory reset) get to the point of getting an IP address and fail at that point. 2. The Picoreplayers connect to wifi fine but they cannot see the my LMS music server for some reason. I've updated two of the players to version 3.02. My server is on a dedicated NUC computer running Windows 10 which is connected by ethernet to the new router. I'm running one of the more recent LMS servers (see below) The new router is a pretty good one: Asus RT-AC88U https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/RT-AC88U/ Likely more than one thing is going on but I'm a bit stumped and miss my household-wide access to music. Thoughts: 1. These old Booms just don't connect to a contemporary router? 2. The server seems less visible to the picoreplayers than previously for unclear reasons except of course, the LMS server is connected to the new router also. Anyway, please help me solve this and get my system back up. Thanks in advance. [slim] New Music: display quirk?
I added some music to my server this AM. Each tag was updated to make sure it would appear at the top of the New Music folder. Interesting observation: Immediately after the scan, the new music appeared in the New Music link for the classic Squeezebox server interface as you might expect. However, later on, maybe an hour later, all the new music had vanished, replaced by what was previously the "newest" music. I'm sure it's some sort of setup issue. I recently completely reinstalled Squeezebox to get away from a RAM drive. Of course, it works fine without the RAM drive but I haven't spent years pouring over all the setup options like I did prior to the reinstall. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Maybe this has something to do with daylight savings time? I haven't scanned since the states reverted to standard time. http://zzzone.net http://have-a-nice-day.org http://www.last.fm/user/zzzoneDOTnet http://somethingsomethingsomething.net SBS 7.9 - i7 nuc - Win 10 64bit 5 Booms, 2 Radio, 3 Touch, 1 Duet, 5 piCorePlayers including 3 touchscreen, 1 Avy 2 controllers, various tablets/phones Apps including iPeng, Squeeze Ctrl etc. 'Library' (http://zzzone.net/photo/2009/music1.jpg): 425,000+ FLAC/MP3 files - 18 TB HD jimzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17592 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Now that the scans complete, I am impressed by the scanning speed, especially for a "new or changed music scan". It's lightning fast without a RAM drive: all my files in about 7 minutes. Re: [slim] Unable to perform full rescan
So, in the absence of a better short term plan, I looked at the scanner log and simply removed the embedded artwork from the entries that seemed to choke the scanner. I then performed a rescan for new and changed files, and the scan was at least able to complete. My long term plan is to find a music file scanner and remove all the corrupted files but at least for now, I can play the glitchy ones. --- Discovering files/directories: J: (235549 of 235549) Complete 00:02:31 Scanning changed files: J: (25 of 25) Complete 00:00:02 Discovering files/directories: K: (280089 of 280089) Complete 00:02:51 Removing deleted files: K: (20 of 20) Complete 00:00:08 Scanning new music files: K: (10 of 10) Complete 00:00:00 Scanning changed files: K: (23 of 23) Complete 00:00:02 Discovering files/directories: K:\V-Z\Various (1 of 1) Complete 00:00:00 Discovering playlists: C:\Users\user\Music\Playlists (1 of 1) Complete 00:00:00 Building full text index (7 of 7) Complete 00:01:20 Find updated coverart files (46441 of 46441) Complete 00:00:16 Pre-caching Artwork (31398 of 31398) Complete 00:12:21 Database Optimize (2 of 2) Complete 00:01:23 The server has finished scanning your media library. Re: [slim] Unable to perform full rescan
I took the RAM disk offline and did a complete resinstall of the server, latest beta. The scan still does not complete. It seems to be choking on damaged jpeg image files. The reason for damaged files relates to an old hard drive enclosure that I was previously using. Apparently the USB controller was damaged or just became ill and started damaging any files that passed through it, likely on the way in from my network. I didn't discover the problem for while, because, I think, very few people verify that files are copied correctly. When I finally did, I replaced the hardware, but the damage was done. Not only was the damage done, but the backups were damaged too. I have the original files, which I am slowly restoring from 25 GB Blu-ray recordables. However, in the meantime, it would be nice if I could get the server to ignore the damaged jpegs and complete the scan. Re: [slim] 6 SATA Hard Drives full of FLAC files - need suggestions
I thought long and hard about all the suggestions above. I ended up with an inertial solution. I got the 4 bay version of the problematic hard drive enclosure for less than 100 bucks. I tested it for hash mismatches and there were none. I got two 8 TB drives and transferred the 12 TB or so music to these drives and had a few empty TB left over. I'll attempt this one. Others correct me I am wrong. If you're referring to the official Logitech app, then an update is unlikely. Consider a third party app like iPeng. I just scored a couple of 8 TB NAS drives. I'll wait for a sale, and get two more. I checked the Madsonic forum and the process is similar, via logging into the NAS via the Madsonic service. My only concern is that transferring all this music to the NAS will take days but I'm not in a hurry, and I can leave the status quo in place during the transfer process. http://zzzone.net http://have-a-nice-day.org http://www.last.fm/user/zzzoneDOTnet http://somethingsomethingsomething.net SBS 7.9 - i7 nuc - Win 10 64bit 5 Booms, 2 Radio, 3 Touch, 1 Duet, 5 piCorePlayers including 3 touchscreen, 1 Avy 2 controllers, various tablets/phones Apps including iPeng, Squeeze Ctrl etc. 'Library' (http://zzzone.net/photo/2009/music1.jpg): 397,000+ FLAC/MP3 files - 18 TB HD jimzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17592 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109946 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Coincidentally, I have an unused DS1815+ that I just put into service for the first time. I have mounted the "test" drive as NFS. I am assuming that I will be able to "see" this folder/drive in Squeezebox server and via Madsonic's add folders? Thanks for a great suggestion. [slim] 6 SATA Hard Drives full of FLAC files - need suggestions
I started a home music system in 2009 based on Squeezebox. I am still VERY happy with it. Gradually my library has expanded to approx 12 TB of mainly FLAC files. Currently the music files are spread over six 3 TB hard drives that are housed in an Medisonic USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure: Mediasonic H82-SU3S2 ProBox 8 Bay 3.5" Hard Drive External Hard Drive Enclosure - USB 3.0 & eSATA https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005GYDMYG/ref=pe_385040_3033... It has been in service since 2013 and seems to have been a pretty good solution. I had to replace one early due to complete failure but it was under warranty. The hard drive enclosure is connected to a dedicated NUC computer which runs the Squeezebox server software and keeps the music indexed. HOWEVER, recently I notice hashes mismatches when transferring files to the discs. When I transfer files to the Mediasonic enclosure, I get the mismatches; when I transfer files to any other attached USB drive, there are no mismatches (I use Teracopy to verify the file transfers) I read in a couple of reviews that the problem with these units lies in its jmicron controller. So I have a few questions: 1. Should I just replace the obviously problematic unit? or, 2. Should I consider other options? Other options might be a NAS but I really want something faster such as my NUC because I use that computer as a Shoutcast server and as a Madsonic server which allows me to access my music outside of the house via phone apps or other computers. I doubt a NAS would be able to run all this software and give reasonable performance. I suppose I could build a computer with 6 drives but that would obviously be pretty expensive and not sure how many cases will hold 6-8 drives. Interesting to note that I have not had a drive failure in 3 years of continuous use. I use NAS drives and I back them up regularly to an external hard drive dock, one at a time. I'm not interested in other music streaming options than Squeezebox as I have a number of still functional Squeezebox players including a Touch, a couple of Booms, and a Radio. Additionally I have built several picoreplayers. Thanks for reading this and helping if you can. [slim] Scanning time for LMS varies widely
I have noticed many, many times over the years that the Windows version of LMS re-scan times vary widely, from 5 minutes to 20 minutes for a rescan after new music is added. During the slower scan, the file number advances by about 2000 files for each increment. During the slower scan, the files increment by 10,000 files per increment or more. Why does it scan at different rates at different times? Just curious. Re: [slim] Search results for LMS: false negative
I was partially correct. I did complete an update scan but NOT a delete database and total rescan as I first attempted. If someone can tell me what cache files to delete, I'll attempt another "Clear library and rescan everything". BTW I have this as a stable setup for over a year and it has worked very well. Without the RAM disk, the "new music" function would be pretty useless. I have placed the rescan log in Michael's outbox. [slim] Catastrophic Failure (an exaggeration): Resolved Spontaneously but...
I was intermittently listening to music today and suddenly my entire SB system failed, and for the first time, I couldn't seem to get it back up. LMS server seemed to be running as usual on the LMS server computer. Symptoms: 1. Unable to open the web interface on the computer running LMS and for that matter on any of the computers on my home network 2. No players or apps can connect. The Booms I have just stall at "Getting an IP address..." 3. No music :( 4. My ambient music stream which I stream from WinAmp could not connect/upload but downloading seemed fine on the server computer What I did: 1. Rebooted the LMS server laptop 2. Installed the latest beta version of 7.9 3. Rebooted my router (and cable modem for good measure) 4. Unplugged and re-plugged in one of the Booms I was pretty stumped. My thoughts: 1. Some sort problem on the LMS server computer (it is connected to the internet still via an Ethernet connection to my router). No software was installed prior to the failure. I have automatic updates turned off. It was almost as if all outbound data was blocked on the LMS server computer. 2. The problem involved both Wi-Fi and ethernet. I could not connect to LMS via an ethernet connected computer. I think this is kind of worthless observations because I couldn't even connect to LMS on the server computer. System details: 1. LMS 7.9 for Windows with the cache on a ramdisk indexing 281,000+ songs on a multi-hard drive enclosure with 12 TB of storage, connected via USB 3 2. HP Envy i7 notebook with 16 GB RAM running Windows 8 3. Cisco router 4. A bunch of players The problem resolved itself it seems about 30 minutes later. LMS and all the players connected and started working. My little ambient stream connected to the internet nicely (http://myradiostream.com/24/6610/listen.m3u) All I can say is WTF and thank god it solved itself because I sure was stumped. I'm just wondering with the availability of cheap computers why a small, low cost computer with output to a DAC couldn't serve as a player eliminating the necessity to design and build a new player. Is it that SqueezePlay and similar software solutions do NOT support hi-res files? Or is it that software players cannot be synced with other players? Are there other reasons? Thanks. Re: [slim] Does LMS run better on faster systems?
Ever since my music collection got to over 100k and more, I've been searching for optimizations. I've had a Pentium processor, an i3, an i5, and currently an i7. I've had a plain hard drive for most of the setups until I got the i5; on that platform I installed and used a RAM disc because the New Music function and many others became unusable when my collection got close to 200k. The RAM disc uses 4 GB out of 16 GB RAM. The faster processor definitely helps with music scan times which I do frequently. The RAM disc or probably an SSD helps with managing a large database and reduces the scan times. I've noticed that all commands SNAP much quicker with the RAM disc. Good luck. http://zzzone.net http://have-a-nice-day.org http://www.last.fm/user/zzzoneDOTnet http://somethingsomethingsomething.net dBpoweramp Cisco E4200 SBS 7.8 - i7 laptop - Win 8 64bit 3 Booms, 2 Radio, 1 Touch, 1 iPod Touch w/digital dock 2 controllers, various tablets/phones Various apps including iPeng, Logitech Android, etc. 'Library' (http://zzzone.net/photo/2009/music1.jpg): 237,000+ FLAC/MP3 files - 12 TB HD Onkyo TX-NR818, KEF Q300/Q200/iQ30, Outlaw LFM-1 Plus jimzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17592 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101521 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] 8 TB Storage and more...
The Mediasonic hard drive enclosure has really helped decrease the complexity of my server. However, it has not been without a few glitches. The main one being that it's firmware is finicky about USB 3. Initially the enclosure only connected to the server laptop at USB 2 speeds which really makes transfers and backup exponentially longer. I updated the laptop BIOS and found one setting for USB 3 that could be varied (I cannot remember what it was, and I don't want to reboot the laptop to find out what that setting was because it's a shoutcast server also). I changed that setting and since that time the enclosure has connected consistently at USB 3. The setting change was not intuitive. I just go lucky. I have been using a USB 3 single hard drive docking station as a backup device, and I adopted '\Backup Maker\' (https://www.ascomp.de/en/) as as my backup tool for the following reasons: 1. Wizard setup of saved backup profiles for each drive 2. Incremental backup 3. Freeware (with a nag at the end of each backup.) So once the complete backup of each drive was completed, subsequent incremental backups take only a few minutes once a week. I'm also implementing a new server computer as per another thread which has led to whole new series of technical challenges (lesson so far: don't buy HP laptops). Re: [slim] Moving LMS preference/cache to new computer
The process was not very smooth but it could have been worse. My server is also my internet radio station so the transition needed to be nearly seamless unless I want to drop all of my listeners. So I needed to set up LMS with a RAM disk and fixed IP and a shoutcast server with a suitable playlist. Copying the cache from the ram disk of old computer to new computer preserved some things but I still needed to rescan completely...twice for some reason unknown, and I had to recreate a lot of preferences and settings including all my favorites. The new Haswell computer scanned more quickly but I found overall it's performance to be subpar to the i5 laptop that I was replacing. So I put the old unit back in service and attempted to clone the hard drive to a SSD and install that inside the new laptop; of course, it was not having that and refused to boot, necessitating replacement of the old HD. I checked online to see what success others have had and found a rather laborious way of getting the SSD to boot which I will save for my project for next weekend. For now, I'm good with a stable functioning system. http://zzzone.net http://have-a-nice-day.org http://www.last.fm/user/zzzoneDOTnet http://somethingsomethingsomething.net dBpoweramp Cisco E4200 SBS 7.8 - i7 laptop - Win 7 64bit 3 Booms, 2 Radio, 1 Touch, 1 iPod Touch w/digital dock 2 controllers, various tablets/phones Various apps including iPeng, Logitech Android, etc. 'Library' (http://zzzone.net/photo/2009/music1.jpg): 231,000+ FLAC/MP3 files - 12 TB HD Onkyo TX-NR818, KEF Q300/Q200/iQ30, Outlaw LFM-1 Plus jimzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17592 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101007 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] 8 TB Storage and more...
USB 3.0 is a bit tricky for this enclosure/notebook combo. I enlarged the total storage to four 3TB drives, two of which are NAS type. Apparently the enclosure had not been connecting at USB 3.0 speeds which slowed down transfers internally between drives as I rearranged the drives, replaced some 2 TB drives, and tried out backup software. To get USB 3.0 speeds, I had to unplug my USB 2.0 mouse and start the enclosure up already plugged into the notebook computer. By doing so I quadrupled transfer speeds to the backup hard drive enclosure and internally. It also seems to have accelerated the scanning process by 17%. Re: [slim] 8 TB Storage and more...
I'm currently copying all the files over to the new enclosure. I have about 2 TB more to go. I've been copying files for about 48 hours now. I got two 3 TB Red drives on sale, and I already had 4 other drives lying around. That will give me plenty of room to grow. Now I need an incremental backup software application. I have used Macrium in the past for disk images. Does Windows 7 do incremental backup? Suggestions? I'll be backing up to an external hard drive dock over USB 3 or eSATA. Thanks again. http://zzzone.net http://have-a-nice-day.org http://www.last.fm/user/zzzoneDOTnet http://somethingsomethingsomething.net dBpoweramp Cisco E4200 SBS 7.8 - i5 laptop - Win 7 64bit 3 Booms, 2 Radio, 1 Touch, 1 iPod Touch w/digital dock 2 controllers, various tablets/phones Various apps including iPeng, Logitech Android, etc. 'Library' (http://zzzone.net/photo/2009/music1.jpg): 218,000+ FLAC/MP3 files - 2TB external HD x 4 Onkyo TX-NR818, KEF Q300/Q200/iQ30, Outlaw LFM-1 Plus jimzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17592 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100561 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
Re: [slim] 8 TB Storage and more...
Thanks again to all who offered me help. On a related note, what type of hard drive should I get for my new enclosure situation? Should I get a Red NAS specific drive or go with perhaps cheaper Green drives that offer energy savings with lower RPM (the Red drives do too)? Here's a sample Red drive on sale at Tiger.com: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3580092CatId=139 Here's a sample Green drive: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=940885CatId=4357 Any thoughts on this? I realize a slower drive may also backup slower but for the main purpose of these drives, serving music files, a fast HD is probably not needed. Thanks. Hope you're having a decent holiday season. Re: [slim] 8 TB Storage and more...
I've been watching all the great replies to my question. This is what I have come up with: storage: Mediasonic 8-bay hard drive enclosure with USB-3 and eSATA with four to eight 3-4 TB hard drives installed http://www.amazon.com/Mediasonic-H82-SU3S2-ProBox-External-Enclosure/dp/B005GYDMYG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8qid=1387724400sr=8-2keywords=mediasonic backup: either a unit identical to above or use the USB-3 or eSATA port to backup incrementally to a single external USB-3/eSATA hard drive dock I like using the single hard drive dock as backup because I can keep the backups off-site more easily. The Mediasonic unit with a bunch of hard drives looks to be one of the cheaper options for my situation. If you have further comments or suggestions, let me know. Happy Holidazed. Mark Miksis wrote: For anyone considering cloud backup, I'm very happy with crashplan.com. It's about $60 per year for unlimited storage. The initial backup can take quite a while depending on how much data you have, but from then on it just updates itself incrementally. Upload speed seems to be limited only by my own cable upload speeds. I chose them over other cloud based backup services because of unlimited storage and Linux support. I wonder if backing up 7 TB of files is even feasible? Seeing that even over USB 2, a 2TB drive takes 12-24 hours, I doubt it. http://zzzone.net http://have-a-nice-day.org http://www.last.fm/user/zzzoneDOTnet http://somethingsomethingsomething.net dBpoweramp Cisco E4200 SBS 7.8 - i5 laptop - Win 7 64bit 3 Booms, 2 Radio, 1 Touch, 1 iPod Touch w/digital dock 2 controllers, various tablets/phones Various apps including iPeng, Logitech Android, etc. 'Library' (http://zzzone.net/photo/2009/music1.jpg): 217,000+ FLAC/MP3 files - 2TB external HD x 4 Onkyo TX-NR818, KEF Q300/Q200/iQ30, Outlaw LFM-1 Plus jimzak's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17592 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100561 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
