Just got back from holiday. iPlayer works in all respects. Doing
nothing seems to fix things eventually. I'll remember that next time
and leave it all well alone.

KMorgan,

There is a strange solution and it looks like it relates to your ISP and
connectivity.
Rather than ping - nslookup is better as it gives more info.
IT would be usefulto try the nslookupo on your PC - on my (non UK) PC I
get the following.
The name www.bbc.co.uk resolved to www.bbc.net.uk

Would appreciate if you could detail the steps you took to do this. I
don't even know what grepped means. It will be after the weekend
before I can try it out though, as I can't set aside enough hours to do
a 5 min job on the computer before that.
Tks

I haven't been able to get iPlayer plugin to work for several days now.
Works fine on my computer though.

Hi,
I had the same problem with iPlayer running on vortexbox (FC11). I
tried pinging www.bbc.co.uk and found it couldn't be resolved. bbc.co.uk
could be found.
I then grepped the iPlayer plugin directory for www.bbc.co.uk, found
the offending url and removed the preceeding www. (sorry don't

I think RT David doesn't realise that you are in the UK.
AlienBBC fetches URLs direct from web site so they are dynamic and up
to date. This might affect the 2nd RTSP URL I suggested but not your
general problem.
The opening of WMA stream to non-UK users should not alter the fact
that you are

Up until I got back home on Fri after a few days away all was working
perfectly. I could get BBC Radio2 through Local, or iPlayer. I had
absolutely no issues with live streams or listen-again. Now I get
nothing from the main BBC stations either through SC or SN.
The odd thing is that
I haven't checked recently but a month ago local radio was RealAudio as
some UK users found they needed to install AlienBBC to play their local
radio.
On the PC - have you installed RealPlayer ? If not then it won't play
RealAudio streams.

Hi,
I have been having similar issues with connecting to BBC sites.
However, I noticed also that RSS feeds were not working either. Updating
to the latest nightly (7.3.3 - 27084) build fixed the issue for me.
Maybe the same will help you?

Bump. Nobody else out there having a problem with BBC radio?

The BBC has been making some changes to their streaming servers so if
you were deep linking to the real audio streams instead of using their
dynamic playlist you probably missed the transition to the new stream
servers.
However, as of today the BBC has windows media streams available to

I was expecting a few other comments confirming the lack of BBC radio
streams. As of this morning I still can't connect even using the BBC
web page. I'm in the UK, using Vista Home Premium, IE8, ISP Virgin
Media. TV streams work fine. I've sent an email off to the BBC, but as
yet no reply. I'm
Start closer to home.
1. Reboot PC and all SBs and Reset the router - Some routers (e.g.
Apple) can have problem with port 554 which is used for RealAudio.
2. Talk to your ISP and check that BBC works for them ?

deleting the SC cache. It doesn't make any difference. What I have

Is there something different about these particular streams perhaps?

You could try the following as a test. It needs to be run form a
command prompt window and in the AlienBBC plugin Bin directory which has
mplayer.exe. Assuming your PC has speakers.
This plays BBC Radio 2 - RealAudio stream.
mplayer -v -playlist http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/realmedia/fmg2.ram

Ignore the mplayer test since one of the tune-in worked.
The first rtsp URL is for international (i.e. non UK listeners). I
think the second URL is for UK listeners - however I am not certain.
If AlienBBC/Live BBC Streams/Radio 2 menu doesn't play and the RTSP URL

Despite having f*rt*d around all day trying whatever I can, I can't get

As it stands
On Squeezenetwork and Squeezecenter...
BBCiPlayer will not connect to live streams (connection timed out)
BBCiPlayer will not connect to listen-again (iPlayer cannot direct

I've been trying to listen to BBC Radio2 here in the UK. Whatever device
and whatever method (Internet Radio Local, iPlayer) I use the

The RealAudio streams work OK for me (outside the uk) using AlienBBC.
You could consider using AlienBBC as a backup when the iPlayer streams
do not work.

Does BBC iPlayer work on your PC ?
If so then the AlienBBC problem is in your SC setup.

Aha! The original BBCiPlayer is stuck at Connecting to media... so
there is obviously some major problem at their end. Suppose I should
have thought of that myself. Thanks bpa

KMorgan
The other possibility is something to do with your ISP - perhaps
blocking/managing/shaping the audio streams in some way.
