In my opinion all usb cables are the same, if they are complient with
the respective standard
Are you using the usb2 or usb 3 sockets on the pi
I would suggest a couple of logs to start with, boot and dmesg
One set with a certified usb cable (and hopefully working dac)
One set with the Curiou

little over 30 minutes on a rpi 4b; copy and paste from instructions on
the web). I have only used this from a single user premium

This is a 8gb rpi4b on which I use the desktop for some other stuff;
gparted, rpi-imager, Pi-Shrink.

I have 32 gb card in use for Buster Desktop at the moment.
Checked with gparted and I can fit it on a 16 gb card.
I'll user the sd card copier on the desktop to make a backup on the 16
gb, copy that to a usb stick using Win32Disk imager and use Pi-shrink to
squeeze it down a bit more.
