My TR4 with the original (fixed) relay would not pull in originally. After
cleaning the relay points it wouldn't release as you describe. After
putting the VOX VOX delay pots mid range and on the third cleaning it did

Randy , TR4C ( vox ) pot is the dual ganged R98/R74 xmit gain...both 500K
ohm both labeled xmit gain.
The xmit gain on a TR4 is also a dual pot and is also an R98/R74
