I'm interested in adding Drake twins to my station and I was hoping the List
here could point me in the right direction. I operate 70% CW and mostly do
weak signal work on 20M.
I'm thinking B line or C line but I don't know the merits of each. I'd also
be interested in common mods and

four pole xtal filters and are built in...filters are not cheap, INRAD has
them but there around $100 each or so. The B line is still my favorite...

CORRECTION: The B line does not have 4 pole crystal filters built-in. It
has as single 8kHz (more or less)crystal filter in the front end. The
bandwidths in the R-4/A/B is provided by a single L/C filter arrangement

That's an easy oneC Line hands down...arguably one of the best CW
set-ups ever produced (OK, the TenTech Omni is pretty good too)One
or both of the narrower (.5 and .25) CW filters are essential, and the
1.5 is very handy on SSB too...The R-4C audio for CW is superb...I have

I personally like the B line. There are two mods I would consider. 1)
and external DSP filter. I have the timewave model, and am truely amazed
at how much QRN the thing takes out. I can listen with headphones for
hours w/o fatigue 2) Have a look at the old HR mag article on Drake

I'll vote for the C lineplus there is a QSK mod that was in CQ many
years ago (one of these days I need to get around to that for my C line).
