Given the same basic design of the speaker (and quality) the 4 ohm one will be louder that 8 ohm. Same for headphones. I have 8 ohm headphones that are lots louder than the 600 ohm ones. Yes, I tried 2 different 4 ohm MS-4 speakers...no difference. Not sure which vintage Collins you speak of

Garey, Mike others as well, The saga continues... I lifted the lead of the Q7 base coupling cap ( the .1) and even tried a new one of .1 and ,47.. Q7 voltages are: Base = .5v Emitter = 0v ( .003) Collector = 18.5v IS IT SUPPOSD TO BE THAT HIGH?? Don't think so. Audio at 12:00 id just ok

Exactly...that's why I prefer vintageand TT. By the way the TT is still the standard in QSK. My Orion II and the Alpha work super together. The K3 is pretty good too...maybe as good. My friend that has one says it is great and he had a OII before (and admits he would like to have it back)

Paul, You will need to warp them back. I have done it several times with success. I use a heat gun...you need to be VERY careful as to not overheat them. I use cool water after the un-warping to help set the plastic. It is possible to ruin the dials...so go at this only if you really want to. 7
