of course anonymous users can set their language preference, too. It
works the standard way - setting the order of preference in their
browser. For example in Internet Explorer 8 go to Tools - Internet
Options - Languages.

dspace.cfg (and this is the default value):
assetstore.dir = ${dspace.dir}/assetstore
You can't search by file name because the filenames in assetstore are different.

Note that the file for root context *must* be named ROOT.xml.
I think leveraging this would help you. That way you don't have to
change your server.xml, only add/remove contexts as needed.
But I don't know if this is a Debian-specific change or a standard
vanilla Tomcat feature.
