I've not opened the controller, but I have opened one of my receivers

You can build a replacement for your Duet receiver. A Raspberry Pi, DAC,
power supply, case to put it in, a SD card and the Picore player image
and you're good to go. Here's a link to a pretty complete set of

I've replaced a Duet receiver with PcorePlayer and there is no issue

I've never done bridge mode as I have no need (and this type connection

My guess is that in bridge mode the actual control of the receiver is
still from LMS or MySB.com and the receiver just works the same as a

I'm not looking to get any more receivers, but wanted to comment on
their usefulness without a controller. A receiver can be set up without
a controller using the NET::UDAP utility from Robin Bowes. Once a
receiver has been setup it can be controlled from any Squeeze controller
app or the webUI.

No need to ethernet connect the receiver,

I doubt the controller is bad if you get it to boot up in the cradle and
with the plug symbol the controller recognizes that it's in the cradle.
My bet is the battery if you leave it in the cradle for a while and then
it is still dead when you take it out of the cradle I'd replace the
battery.
You could open up the receiver (torx screws under rubber base pad) and
re-seat the wifi card and any other connections. I did have to replace a
wifi card in one of my receivers.

will show correct voltage, but can't support a load. You should grab a
couple of these, I believe 9V (you can verify on your current power

One thing I would try is changing to a dedicated channel rather than
Auto. I also have a mesh router with zero nodes, just a single router
which is sufficient for my house. In the past I tried the auto channel
and my Duet receiver for whatever reason had trouble. I now use control
channel 11,
For UDAP to find the receiver you must 1st plug an ethernet cable to the
receiver then long press the front button until you get the fast red
blink. release the button and it should go to the slow red blink. UDAP
should be able to see the receiver new.

Yes, I have Duet controllers too which I normally use if I need to do a
setup which is almost never. I must be lucky, my receivers are both wifi
and are rock solid! I have used UDAP in the past and find that having
the receiver wired when setting up with UDAP is more reliable.
