[Dx4win] DX4WIN v8.02 log problem
Hi everyone, I went to open my log v8.02 this morning to find that I had lost three days of QSO's even though I have used and backed up the log daily. Not only that, the first 4000+ entires in my log had no information other than X's in all logbook fields! The demo log included with v8.02 had several days worth of my latest contacts in it even though I have never opened it or saved to. I only have the two logs in the 'Save' folder.my main station log and the demo log. This may be a 'glitch' on my part but as I have not edited or played around with the logs or had a computer crash I have no idea why it happened. I eventually found a '~xl' back up file which fortunately had the missing information in it!!! It may be worth you keeping an eye on your logs and saving your 'log file' on a regular basis 'just in case' there is a problem. 73, Carl GW0VSW __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN v8.02 log problem
A couple of questions before venturing an opinion... Which OS... and which File System if you know. When you say you will save your file... are you running it for days on end without doing a File Save or Cntl-S. The reason I ask this is if you have a scheduled backup running it will back up the file as it stood last time you did a File Save. If is important that anyone doing a scheduled backup save the file to disk periodically. [Dx4win] My new Icom IC-7600 and my SteppIR interface, how to hook up???
Since I purchased the new Icom IC-7600 that has a computer USB interface I can't figure out how to interface my SteppIR control box with it's RS232 interface. The Com port assigned to the 7600 is a virtual com port interface for the 7600 using the USB interface. I'm using DWAIN for my logging program. In the past I used a Y cable that was between my rig and my computer and the SteppIR box. Hi Mel, I run XP Pro. When I leave the programme it says I have updated the logbook and do I want to save it. I always say 'yes' and up to now have not had a problem. Can you be absolutely sure you never opened the demo log? If you did so even once, the program would open it automatically after that... As for the X's, it's hard to know if that happened while the log was open by DX4Win or there is another issue. It's a reminder that we not only need backups, but preferably a few generations... [Dx4win] Countries not showing as checked
I just upgraded from version 7 to version 8.02 and have an interesting problem. Most of my DXCC checked country count converted just fine, EXCEPT for CW. EIGHTY entities are not counted as checked, merely confirmed (version 7 had 333 entities checked, version 8 has only 253 checked). Yet when I select one of the QSOs, the record clearly shows the mode to be checked for CW. I thought I'd just go through the 80 countries and brute force them to be checked, but they're already considered checked. So why does DX4Win 8 try to tell me that they're merely confirmed? Version 7 got the message and considered the checked, but version 8 seems to have its own ideas. I'm sure it's a simple fix, I just can't figure out what it might be. 73, Joe KQ3F __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Prior versions of DX4Win seemed to be OK with that, this one isn't. No problem, I just picked one example country and selected a post 1/1/75 confirmed QSO as checked and all is well. Thanks! DX4WIN 8 has a new awards manager that understands the starting date for various awards like DXCC CW and various WAZ awards. It may be possible to go to your ARRL LoTW account (if you have one) and go to your DXCC award to find the QSOs for which you actually received CW DXCC credit. 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, jjreis...@alum.mit.edu, http://www.ad1c.us __ Dx4win mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
