I just upgraded to verxion 6.03 and am having trouble importing a recent CT
file. I do not see it as an option anymore with the import/merge action.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Tnx,

Change the window colors, Joe. I do so every few months. They are mainly
dependant upon your Windows desktop color scheme selection. 73, -=Rog-K9RB=-
Main problem I have, created by version 6, is the hassle of going to
preferences to change from the CW keyboard Com port to the PSK31 PTT Comport
or
mouse clicking the next box after the rstS two digit report is manually
entered. 73, -=Rog-K9RB=-

If you haven't run into the problem, you must use always just the default
reports on SSB I guess. If you enter a callsign in the log and wish to give
an honest report of 57 and he gives you a 58 in return, you tab over to the
rstS box and enter 57, then when you would expect it to move to the next

Larry, In Ver 6.0x, you have to geo into Preferences and Control and
switch the configuration from CW to PSK31 PTT and back and forth depending
on the mode you are using at the moment. In Ver. 5.02/03 the PTT keying port
was selectable in the PSK31 window. Now its a real pain to switch between
Subject: Re: [Dx4win] PSK31 support for LPT keying
Hi Larry
All you have to do is set the PTT delay to 500ms
and you can use both functions with CW control enabled
in the PSK window

One way that I've handled this potential for missing needed ones is to read
all the latest DX bulletins. When you come across an announcement that
interests you with a callsign that could be an entity of various defaults,
put that callsign in the log window, go to the Prefix box and hit F1 to
or in the help file. I don't see
how it could be a problem at W1GQ as Jim stays connected. My IPS has
assured me that they don't have any restriction on DSL.

Is there something in my Win2k system that's timing out the connection?
I can't
Well, I came home from work just before midnight and found I
was disconnected from W1GQ. I reconnected and will let it run
thru the night to see if it happens again.

Hi All...
When I want a high speed connection I also connect to W1GQ, K1EA
or K1TTT and I ALWAYS get disconnected after a while! I'm using
6.02 on a Win 2000 machine through a DSL connection. It must be
some sort of an ISP function.
73, Roger
I downloaded a copy of Logger 32 for a test. I can't get it to
connect to W1GQ. Do I need a value in the PORTS box? If so, I
can't find it listed anywhere. I'm connected to K1XX for the
test.

Take a look at this program. It allows you to use
another computer to access your main computer via
a network. The accessing computer acts similar to
a dumb terminal so all file updating is done on
the main computer.

Not at all, Jim. Ink jet print is water soluble and will instantly smear or
smudge if subjected to a droplet of water. It also fades quite rapidly.
Laser printers fuse the toner to the media under a high heat, which sets the
print and makes it impervious to moisture and fading. Laser printers have
to change the SSB to CW in the QSO mode window it
will not let me do it. What control have I set incorrectly?
Thanks for your continuing support,
Roger, W7VV
Yes, Larry, I share this dilemma with you and any others that work CW and
PSK31 modes and use different ports for control of CW keying and PSK31 PTT.
I brought this problem to the attention of Paul just days after the release
of Ver 6...
It is a real pain now and was so simple in Ver. 5.02/5.03

You haven't got it hooked up correctly...
On the LPT port
In Preferences | Packet1 | make sure you have the options box labeled
Backup DX spots checked. That will save the spots up to the number in the
Preferences | Packet2 | scrollback capacity for DX spots box.

This is a v.6.0x problem that I have informed Paul about. It is a problem
that seems to affect all Kenwood rigs. This and the lack of ability to
select a separate COM port for CW keying and PSK31 PTT has been cause for
some of us to revert back to using v.5.02 for the time being. -=Rog-K9RB=-
When I hit the F3 key in the main log I get Flying Horse Error: 3

Upgrading from previous versions
There are only a few things the user must do in order to fully upgrade =
to the current version, from a previous version of DX4WIN.
If the contest logging program CT is used, during installation when the =
prompt labeled 'CT binary conversion' appears, choose
great. I hope this may help someone who might have the same problem.

as being able to work with CT, NA and TRLog. I know at one time there
wasn't as standard for some of the LPT pins. I don't know if there is one
now. Hopefully, if I'm not missing something, the new DX4WIN program can
also be made to use pin 17 for CW Keying.
Roger, W1EM
It appears that my problem is Windows 2000 as the
external data lookup works fine on my laptop
running Windows 98. Is anyone using Win2K and the
external data lookup function? If so, how is your
program set up?

I have again updated the DX4WIN.tcp file, which contains all the Telnet =
connection choices. There have been many changes in addresses as well as =
many new connection choices. All currently working published and known =
worldwide telnet connections are included in this new updated file. All =
use the notes for this QSO box for situations such as this, and
move on! Is it really necessary to have the manager printed on the label for
direct QSL's? Bureau QSL's are another situation, and would require some
alteration?
