My K2 (05386) has developed a problem affecting the 20 meter and 12
meter bands only. When I key up, the power fluctuates wildly. On the 20
meter band rx seems normal, on 12 there is a chorus of birdies.
My assumption is that a common component was cold-soldered or has
failed.
I note that in the

Hi Oms,
filter set up is described on page 45 and pages 53 54 of the owners
manual, e.g. K3 Owners Manual D1.pdf: FLx BW, FLx FRQ, FLx GN, FLx
ON and FLTX{md}.
If you have done this correctly, then everything should be ok. If not,
you may need to contact Elecraft.

I plan to add most options eventually. The K2 I currently use I did not build

Is there a kit including all the eliminators?

Bjorn,
I notice the same thing with my K3 S/N 775, V2.38. For me, the problem
appears to be in SSB mode, and not CW. For example, if I adjust the power
output of my K3 by a very small amount i.e. say from 50w to 52w output, it
will initially transmit much more power than 52w driving my

According to the manual, the XFIL button will switch between filters.
Try BSET and then XFIL.
I am not certain that is currently implemented in the firmware, but it
is worth a try.
I cannot try it because I have only one filter and do not have the KRX3.

For those who have the transverter and may be driving it with the ICOM PRO

I measured my PRO II drive and I am actually getting significantly more

With rework eliminators, you build headers (can be thought of as place
holders), and add all needed components for the features you want. Then
when you decide to build the features, you just unplug the headers and
plug in the new feature. The alternative requires complete disassembly

Hello
I just finished building the ksb2 ssb adapter for my k2 and am
having a problem with it. It will not key the k2 in ssb mode.
All the test and alignment went as they should, and the voltages
on all components are what they should be except for one. On U1 the
voltage on pin 21 is 1.2 volts
Scott,
U1 pin 21 has nothing to do with keying on SSB. The signal line you are
looking for is /PTT on the KSB2 or on the main K2 the /DOT-PTT signal.
The problem can be with your microphone configuration header wiring,
your microphone, or a fault on the KSB2 board.
One quick check is to
My K3, Serial Number 556, is not working properly in the VFO split
mode. I only work CW and when I hold split, the CW speed control
light changes to the MIC light. The transmitter will then not key.
Switching back to transceive restores the ability to key the
transmitter. This
Sounds like you have the other VFO on each band set to SSB. That would
change the default mode for that control to Mic Gain from CW Speed.
A single tap of A-B only copies frequency. A double tap of A-B copies
all other parameters (mode, filter etc.)

The mode on VFO B is USB or LSB (look at the mode indicator
in the LCD while holding the REV button). This is a side
effect of the K3's failure to copy the mode to VFO B on the
first tap of the A-B button.
In order to keep both VFOs on the same mode, you need to tap
A-B twice. The first
Yes, that was the case. When I set up the band memories, I didn't
make sure both VFO's were properly set to CW. Since I normally have
the display set to real time clock mode, I didn't see the offending
USB indicator on VFO B.
