Regarding surface mounts, I have used Scotch tape to pick up and place parts.
It holds nicely while tack soldering and is easy to reposition. I also like to
flood with solder and wick the excess, it's risky, but usually works

You sure you're on the right range? 79 V would make sense. 73

If this is the metering internal to the KPA500:
Maybe the transformer taps are wrong or bad? If we had a schematic of the

Hello,
I have been away for 3 months. The K3 was completely disconnected from
antennas, power supply, including removing the PP from the back of the rig.
Today I decided to update the firmware and when I turned the power on, I

I was under the impression that the battery is only used to power the
real-time clock, and config is stored in EEPROM/flash.
If I was Tom, I'd try the EE INIT (page 66 in the manual) and see

OK! OK! I should have phrased it that nearly no hams build anything,
anymore (one out of a hundred hams), and most hams are scared of
trying to do SMT (if they even know the term). Oh yes, hams build
antennas (those things out of wire) and connect radios to other
accessories and plug'em in
