We plan to buy a K3.
There isn't a best. Because of the K3's ability to tailor both xmit and recv
audio, the K3 can be successfully paired with almost any mic/cans. Many K3
owners,
myself included use a Yamaha CM500.

Certainly - you turn on bias in the menu and there is no need for the

I use the heil proset with the hc4 element and it works great. Because of all
the recommendations for the CM500 I just purchased one off amazon for $35. I
wanted to see what I was missing.

Many microphones will do fine: a simple and cheap computermic as well as

Juan,
Did you connect the SL USB output to the K3 Line In?
Is the K3 MIC SEL set for LINE IN?
Check your SignalLink for the sound output level, most are set to
microphone level, but the K3 line in needs line level which is a much
higher level signal. Find the jumper for the SL and change it.
I would think that whatever external keying device you are using would have
to connect via the KEY jack. This would be a contact closure (or the
equivalent) to ground, with the KEY jack in straight key mode, via the KX3

Your posts about the horizontal delta loop prompted me to ask this question. I

Hi Bud,
I suspect that VFO-B is in a different mode. (You can view VFO-B information
mode by pressing BSET). To quickly solve this problem I just pressed the A-B

and the second push transfers other information such as mode

Most PSK31 waterfall software allows you to set the transmit frequency
different from the receive frequency on the waterfall display.
Yes, the K3 does not allow split in Data A submode - use your software
