I had to perform the temp compensation a few times. A couple of those
times necessitated a retry due to operator error in the setup :-) I
eventually achieved a level of proficiency in preparing to apply the heat
source. Initially, I used a hair dryer the first couple of times. But
I was not charged any duties or taxes because it was an RMA and clearly
marked as such. I paid for insurance though to guard against any delivery
"issues".

It is not disabled automatically in Data A mode. I have looked and if I
don’t set it purposefully it will remain at the last setting per band. I
have macros that I use to toggle between voice operation and digital
modes. I set the mic bias and mic btn menu items accordingly.

If using an Elecraft kpa500, setup the kx3 so that the "pa key" is grounded
during ptt. That means lo=ptt on the kx3
Kenny, do have the kx3 set for Data A? I have notes from a few years ago
that indicates Data A must be selected or you will get the VFO scanning.

and gives me a low power, low cost Digital transcoder for more than just
PSK31, RTTY, and CW. The only issue I wrote about in this chain previously

my earlier post PSKer for the iPAD.
