I doubt that the ACOM (or the Expert) polls the K3. I bet they are passive listeners. 73 de Dick, K6KR Expert can poll K3(as well as almost any other radio) according to its manual. Sure enough you then need both TXD and RXD connected. Therefore you can probably use it without computer.
