So, to use an external keyboard we need to buy the SVGA interface? Does
anyone if there are any plans to provide an active keyboard port without
buying the SVGA capability?
Is there anything else we need to do to plug the keyboard into the USB port
on the SVGA card?
Tnx

It has been a tossup whether TSA asks me to take the K3 out of the carry on
bag, or two K3's this past October to KP2M.

I can't seem to find this problem with 4.42. The Auto-notch seems to work
well. Sometimes on 40M SSB I leave it on to get rid of the broadcast
carriers.
No complaints.

I hope we can't do that. I feel you either receive/transit from the remote
site or receive/transmit from the local site. From a contester and Dxer
perspective I do not like the idea of mixing the two. There may be other
reasons to mix, and I may be being shortsighted on this.

when the other station comes back to
someone. Can't think of any other time full duplex would be helpful. But I
do agree with SSB and Digital.

Joe,
Quite an accomplishment that you got to feel proud of, especially with low
power and the antennas you have.

Make sure the LIN IN is not turned up. Early on I had a problem with hum in
my audio, especially if an amp was close to the K3. For some reason my LIN
IN was at max. Turned it down and hum went away.

Hi Bill,
The K3 that I take to KP2M has a 2.7, 2.1 and 1.5 filter. During a contest I
use the 2.7 and 2.1, but never the 1.5. In rare situations chasing DX I may
use the 1.5, but that is mostly to see if it helps.
Hey, anyone want to swap a 2.1 for my 1.5?

From
amp. It
is such a pain to haul down the amp. I have a shelf hung from the basement
ceiling which holds the amp right below my shack. I only have the RCU in the
shack.
Now where is that KPA1500?
Thanks for any advice.

Does anyone know when the connectors were changed? Date or serial number?
Easy to tell if the connectors should be updated?
Haven't seen the problem here. But would like to plan or take care of the
problem while I have the time and not when I am in an off-shore location.
Tnx

Down at WP2Z for CQWW SSB Test we sometimes on 20M opened up the bandwidth
to 2.4KHZ. Even with strong adjacent signals (as always the case on 20M) we
could keep our run rate higher than with narrower bandwidth. It was just
easier to copy calls even with all that adjacent QRM.

CM-500 much more comfortable than Heil Pro set wearing it an entire contest
weekend. And no matter how I try to set up the transmit equalizer for both
headsets I get reports of more penetrating audio from the CM-500.
We just ran a pair of K3's at WP2Z this past weekend.

Has anyone had a problem where both the red(transmit) and yellow(RIT) LED's
stopped working? In the middle of the contest both Led's stopped
illuminating. Everything seems to be working fine.
Before I dig into the rig and schematics when I get home in a couple of days
figured I would check
of 599 on CW
- In ARRL SSB Test use 59K instead of 59 kilowatt for power level for
DX stations.
There are many other accepted practices that all boil down to being in the
log with an accepted call and other exchanged info, if required. And you
do need a transmitter to do this. :-)

Tony,
It is The Republic of South Sudan. Sudan split in two so we have a new
country to work. If you are a DX'er like me you like working new ones.

. The increase in
power does on occasion help for the DX station to hear you over someone else
or even just hear you. Sometimes less than an S-unit increase does matter,
but not most of the time.

the DX is working if out of your bandwidth.
The K3 is very easy to use SPLIT. I have programmed PF1 for SPLIT, same
MODE, up 2KHZ. Sure beats the way we used to do it in the day of tube rigs
and even some of the newer SS rigs.
