You need to set PREAMP2 to on by holding down MENU/CONFIG. Then press the PRE
button and it will rotate from OFF to PRE 1, then to PRE 2.
This needs to be done 3 times, if you desire, for 6, 10 and 12 meters.

The point is there are alternatives to purchasing a P3, the VGA option, a
second monitor, and a second receiver for the K3.
Only the KX3 has an I/Q output which can be used without external hardware.

I run mine on 6 meter meteor scatter at full power all the time. Sometimes for
up to an hour continuous (30 seconds on, 30 seconds off). I have mentioned
this to Elecraft and they didn't have any concerns about it.

I do a lot of meteor scatter on 6 meters, and I've tried the tuner both above
and below the amp.
I've found the KPA500 runs cooler with the KAT500 tuner below the amp.
