Hot melt glue might be more forgiving (glue on the threads) or double
sided tape with a punched hole for the screw.
When I built Heath Kits and "real work" I would use tape on my finger so
that I could hold the nuts in place while I attached the screw...

I've been using cw-to-rtty on my K3. I have read that sending "IM" at the end
of the transmission to end transmission but it just extends the tail for
another 4 seconds. I send IM bumped together as a pro sign but no joy. Any sage

channels 1-7 are the NOAA weather channels (162.400-162.550 in 50kHz
increments). It appears if I put frequencies in there that are all within

Checked my notebook, thought I had used a 1K SMD, but I had used a 5K SMD.
The current draw with a short would only be 1mA and the power dissipated
across the 5K SMD would be 5mW.

I had a similar problem just running a couple of devices off the USB ports
of my small Dell Desktop. The output voltage gets loaded down with a few
devices on the USB port. The solution was to purchase a USB expander with
its own wall wart power supply.

show a nice flat passband. If it has a dip or valley in it, look for a bad
connection on one of the capacitors or crystals.

It seems that the filter output is low, but functioning. Alignment
addresses adjusting BFO frequency, but nothing about output level.
I checked soldering again, but I have not made it any further than this

K2 mic configuration. I use computer jumpers for the mic headers (get them
at Radio Shack), you don't need the resistor in the 5V on the mic header
unless you are using a electrodynamic mic, like a computer mic. I normally
leave the 5V line unjumpered. I have some old computer boards, so I fo
I accidentally tuned my KX3 into a high SWR output on 20m. Now it won't
transmit into a low SWR output on 20 at over 5 W. When I set it to 10 W, resets
itself to five. Other bands are fine. This smells like something in firmware.
Is there anywhere to clear it?

affect the system. Running 50w on 70cm does affect my 5.8 GHz wireless
telephone system. I'm guessing that it's crunching the receiver front
end or getting rfi into the master's control circuitr
I don't know if it's worth it for just the clock. I wear a watch and have an
iPhone - that pretty much covers time questions 😃.

Thanks for your comments, Ron. My fuseholder isn't gradually meltingit's a
pretty robust one and teh spring effect is fine, but small contact area and
dissimilar metals appears to be the issue. It seems like the automotive blade
fuses are the wave of the future in ham radio !
