Hi, A friend asked me about my KPA500. He read that it runs QSK and he would like to run his IC -781 with the Elecraft in QSK cw. Is there anything other than providing a relay cable from his ICOM to the KPA500 and running the ICOM QSK or is there more to it for a non-Elecraft radio? Thanks

Mark, You did not say what part of the K1 you are trying to calibrate. If it the forward power reading of the KAT1, then it should be useful within the range of its accuracy. There are other ways to measure power and achieve good accuracy -- At the 7 watt or less power level of the K1, you can

If you're talking about the 21-534, it should do fine at least up through 30 MHz. FWIW, I bought its great-granddaddy back in the 1970's (model 21-502A) and it still works fine. RS meters do everything an SWR meter needs to do, which is register a low SWR at a 50-ohm impedance match. Few SWR mete

Im trying to calibrate my k 1 and bought a radio shack swr bridge. With a 50 ohm load I can tune without it but with it I get a dry high swr. I measured the coax connectors and get a short between the two coax centers and the grounds. It recieves ok but I can't get a decent tx reading.

Yes, I realize my measurement technique was not very accurate. For one thing, reading a meter flicker down around 10% of full scale is probably gives no better than +/-50% or so accuracy. But the Radio Shack anti-static mat was reading a couple orders of magnitude greater than the resistivity spe
