Hi guys,
before updating to FW 4.51 last week I wanted to save my current K3
configuration using the K3 Utility but could not succeed. :-( As I saw my
last K3 backup was over a year old and pre FW 4.42 to which I updated back
then for K144RFLK support.
So saving K3 configuration did not work
Olli you didn't say if you were using the latest K3 Utility version
1.12.3.28. I just tried a Save Config with my system and had no problems.
If you have the latest version you may need to wait until K6KR or someone
from Elecraft wakes up! :-)

Hi Alan,
I had a K3 load lockup a few weeks ago and I used the technique described in
the help menu in the K3 Utility Program. Search for MCU Boot Loader
Troubleshooting. Full instructions will be displayed.
I also removed the RS232 link between the K3 and P3 so that the K3 had a
direct serial
Olli, same here, no issues. Save K3 Configuration worked fine this morning.
Using 1.12.3.28.

Exactly my thoughts Bob. I printed those two pages out and laminated them. Of
course, just in case, I did print out an extra copy of the manual to carry in

John,
You will nost likely find the problem in the Low Pass Filter board. My
suspicion is that the LPF is not working and letting 2nd and 3rd
harmonic energy through - and the net effect is modulation of the KX1
output waveform.

A K3 to K2 audio comparison changes a lot when 4.51 firmware is installed.
The change in the K3 was instantly noticeable.
So these days one must specify pre- or post-4.51.

That cannot be done - RS-232 must have only one set of line drivers on a

Was there a satisfactory answer given for this issue? I don't notice the
problem of limited power on 10-20 meters but on 40 it shows up. Several

Hi Fred,
The situation you are describing (first touch of the paddle) is an indicator
that the K3 TX Gain might need to be touched up on one or more bands. Do the
