Howard, I am using a PR20 and am able to run my mic gain at about 20. I use it on the FP set on H and the onboard preamp turned on ( press 7 ) BTW, I have tried several mics and use the Yamaha CM500 for DX'ing but for rag chewing the PR20 consistently generates the best reports. Rick K6LE
