I have been doing that, still don't get 4KHz bandwidth. I would just accept it
as a limitation of the receiver if it weren't for the fact that on SSB I can
widen the pass out to 4KHz.
So in summary, why can't DATA A be as wide as SSB mode?

which is what I prefer to use for data modes.
So is this a feature or a bug?

this please enlighten me.
(I prefer using DATA A to the SSB Mode on WSJT as it does things like turn off
TX equalisation and compression and other things like NR on RX which might
upset WSJT).

Ron, the drift reports will be a better on WSPR for you if you do the KX3
extended temperature frequency calibration. Well worth doing it for modes that
depend on low frequency drift like WSPR and JT65b.

Have you seen or tried this memory manager for the K3/KX3 for Macintosh?

If you don't have sufficient audio (4 to 5 bars of "ALC" ) then the radio power
output will be unstable as you have described.

Brian,
Too early in the morning with me, I just noticed the fact you have a K2 not a
K3 or KX3.
In that case the ALC meter is different, but perhaps you may find something
that is helpful on the late G4ILO's site:

pulsed on and off.
It would have been great is there had been extra switching and sockets for
doing this in the KX3, but I realise that it is a portable radio and there have
to be some compromises to make it so. I am just amazed what Elecraft have been
able to squeeze into it.

panadaptor is also nice for finding stations (search and pounce)
on the band, it also shows very graphically the difference between a good
narrow SSB signal and one that is being over driven and splattering.

It is normal, they should be hidden by band noise when the radio is connected.

that. As a reference
point I only have the Laptop USB connected to a PX3 and from there to the KX3
and am using only 144 MHz with an external transverter from 14 MHz. I didn't
need any ferrite on that port. I did need some on other USB leads and HDMI
leads however.
