Hi all!
While having a QSO yesterday from my mobile to a QRP station on 20 meters, the
gentleman I was chatting with mentioned that the KX3 now does up to 20 watts of
power. Never heard this before and wondering if it's true, currently my KX3
does up to 15 watts. I use my KX3 mostly for
Hi all,
I have one as well for my KX3, I've even taken it with me on holidays to the
Caribbean were voltage is 240 volts, still plug and play, works on 120 or 240
volts. Excellent product though in the shack I run the KX3 on battery/solar
power.

I run a 12 volt Solar system, 4 100 watt panels hooked up to 4 6 volt Golf Cart
batteries. I have 12 volt LED lights (look like a regular lightbulb) all over

Could someone please remind me days, time and freq for Elecraft voice nets?

How about, I refuse to have a cell phone! Imagine that, I can get away
without everybody trying to find me and the government can't track me
down. If my YL, KB1TCG, really wants to find me when I'm out she can
cruise 20 or 40m and find me...
YL has a burner phone in case of emergencies
I use a spanish made Falcon Outback 1899 antenna w/Goliath mag mount. Supposed
to do 80 -6 metres but won’t do 80 in my little Chevy, has jumpers for diff
bands. Max 125 watt. Works great for me.

You have the Signalink w/the module or the one w/jumpers? Several of my friends
have had trouble w/the Signalink w/the module, I have two Signalinks, both
w/jumpers and don’t have any issues.

Hello, inmates!
not all mics on the Yamaha CM-500 headsets are electret, I tested mine before
making the connectors; I am not using it w/my KX3, using w/Kenwood TS-480 and
Yaesu FT-897.

My KX3 also drifts as well, I mostly use it on digital modes. Can’t remember
when I bought it but it was over 3 years ago.

A friend of mine had same issues a couple of years ago here in Maine, turned
out it was marijuana growers using non approved chinese grow lights brought in
illegally through Canada and being sold in Portland, ME.
We put an end to that, the FCC deputised my friend...even got in the Portland

I bought an 75 amp/hr AGM deep cycle battery a couple of years ago for $138.00

Amazon is selling a 12v 6amp battery for $30 w/free shipping, fits in

Hi all,
I run a 75m Emergency Mgmt regional net Sundays at 21:00 UTC on 3.940 and The
Seagull net is active rest of the week here in ME same freq.
I find the band goes long shortly after the net is over, around 21:30.
Might want to not use 3.940 for a net...
I’d be willing to try Elecraft net
About 12 years ago we had a carbon monoxide detector in the upstairs hallway
not far from the shack. Every time I was on a 2m net (could have been 6m, I
forget...)the detector would start chirping, I even lowered power from 65 to 25
watts, same issue. Eventually the thing wouldn’t stop chirping
Some antennas work great in some places and not so in others depending on
ground conditions, from personal experience in granite filled Maine.

I have the mic but use it with the Alinco DX-8SR that I use as a cellar shack
radio. Good mic, never tried to use it w/my Elecraft radio though...

I prefer to use resonant antennas, either single or multi band and not use a
tuner, however, I have encountered that even resonant antennas are not always
so due to ground conditions,
Case in point, two weeks ago we hiked to the summit of Sentinel Mountain in
Baxter State Park. I carried my

You can get a brand new Dell Win 10 solid drive laptop for $150 that also lets
you use winlink, not much memory but if you are only using it for ham
applications it works fine, that’s what I use as a dedicated ham laptop.

From my experience, some of the CM-500s have an electret mic and others a
dynamic mic. I don’t know if its an age factor.
I use mine with my YAESU FT-897 and with my Kenwood TS-480, don’t have the
adapter at this point to use with the KX3...Pretty good for an in-expensive
boom mic.

I’ve got a Sennheiser headphone as well, they rock!
Also have the Yamaha headset, it’s not as good for noise cancelling as the
Senheiser but it does have the mic.
Unless I’m in a situation where I have to use a headset with mic, I always go
for the Senheiser.
