Hi all,
We're excited that the QRPworks SideKar and K-Board have been reviewed in
the recently published Product Review issue of QST (Nov. 2017). Actually,
we're more than excited, as you can imagine.
If you haven't seen it and would like to, it's on our website, with
permissionm from the ARRL:
And for completeness, we'd like to mention the QRPworks "K-Board" as another
viable option.
The K-Board holds 200 messages or macros, in 10 groups of 20. And each
group of 20 can be named..."Field Day", Contest A", Contest B", etc.
Like the SideKar and SideKar Plus, each of the 200 slots can be

Hi all,
QRPworks is happy to report that SideKars are now in stock and shipping.
There was a delay this summer as a new case was designed to accommodate the
KX2.
The new universal case allows it to:
- be mounted on top of a KX2
- be mounted on the right side of the KX3 (like the original case)
Hi all,
We want to let you know of a new feature in the QRPworks K-Board for the
KX2, KX3, K3, K3S.
In our first firmware release, using the free Message Management Utility
that runs on a PC or Mac, you could define 10 named groups of 20 messages
and/or rig macros (80 characters each). You then
Hi Hajo,
You may want to consider a product from QRPworks. The SideKar and Ham
Central Terminal are made to work with the KX3, KX2, K3, and K3S.
It talks to the KX3 using one cable (provided) and has a logger for 1000
QSOs. I use it all the time activating a national park here for NPOTA.

Steve,
With the SideKar, you only have to enter the call once. Then it's used in
all messages and the log as well. And if it's there, the log will
automatically position you in the Exchange field, as that's the only field
you need to enter (by paddle or keyboard).

Greetings,
We had some questions whether the new SideKar for the KX3 will fit on the

The answer is YES. The Side KX panels do not have to be removed.
I posted a few pics in the Yahoo user group photo albums with the SideKar

Dear KX3 Community,
FYI...I just finished a homebrew project to enhance my PSK31/RTTY experience
with the KX3.
I love the innovative feature in the KX3 (and K3) where you can send and
receive
PSK31 and RTTY while portable, without a computer. But I thought a nifty
enhancement would be to capture
FWIW, I've used the Pelican 1060 for a number of years. It's waterproof,
crushproof, dustproof, and a few other proofs. It has room for the KX1,
Palm Mini Paddle and cable, small folding headphones, DC Power cable, and
some coax connector adapters.
It's more expensive than the Plano, but I
Thanks, Phil (and everyone else).
I'm planning on using the supply with the KX3 at the 10 watt output as well.
I'm guessing something in the order of 2 amps will be needed. This should
provide the needed current with a little overhead to spare.
By the way, when I got home last night, I found

Sorry for the double post. I received a nabble error message when I

Greetings,
As others have stated well, there are as many objectives for the KX3 and
FT-817 as there are users.
For me, the KX3 fills the bill that multiple rigs have filled in the past.
I use a KX1 on the trails here in the Rockies. It's a fantastic radio and I
love using it. I picked up an
I use the Samlex SEC-1235M with my K3, with no issues or noise detected.

I have the same question, and while I haven't bought one yet, the front
runner for me so far is the Seahorse SE-920.

It's a hard case like the Pelican (but less expensive), comes with or

I agree. While the website says it meets carry on regulations, it clearly
doesn't. So, if flying with this as carry-on luggage is planned, the
Pelican 1510 is a safer bet. It's about $60 more. But that might not be
a big deal if it saves you from paying baggage fees because it's a little

Same for me. I've inquired about it with the Elecraft folks, but haven't
received a reply yet. It would make a nice addition.

I, too, have run into this. After getting a DX QSO running Split, I

I have also done the opposite, where I hit something and get out of Split

Exactly. I'm a new K3 owner (~1 week) and had the same issue a few days into

To prevent it from happening again, I added a double tap of A-B to my go
