I'd like to offer the "correct" info about tax reporting. I am a
professional tax preparer and make my living understanding the correct
nuances of the US tax code. I also have an eBay store, so I have used
PayPal for many years. I prefer it for my own purchases and for those who
buy my product.
And they are listening just got this.
We’ve got you covered with all the details:
Beginning January 1, 2022, the IRS implemented new reporting guidelines for
individuals receiving goods and services payments on PayPal and other platforms
totaling $600 or more per year.
So what exactly does this
There is another, very important reason NOT to accept payments via PayPal
for casual, hobby related transactions.
Effective this year, PayPal (and Venmo) now issues an IRS form 1099-K to
anyone receiving more than $600 in a calendar year. Therefore, you have to
report your proceeds as income,
I ran a business making kits and used PayPal with no issues (probably
over 100 transactions). Even used PayPal credit to purchase a IC-9700,
with no issues. I have an excellent credit rating.
If you want to check someone's transaction quality, E-Bay collects
buyer/seller ratings. Mine is
Sorry, this non-Elecraft thread should die. But….
I bought a reciprocating saw that tracking showed weight as 1oz. Shouldn’t be
much of a struggle, and yet it was.

Yeah, that's part of the problem of being PayPal. Some buyers are scammers,
some sellers are scammers, there's no way to know what was actually in the
box, and it's impractical for them to have the expertise to judge the
authenticity, quality, and condition of every kind of niche item sold

While I do some internet transactions, I'm very careful to research the
company or person I'm doing business with in advance. Both ways, when
buying and when selling.
Regarding internet sales, I figure there are just as many SCAMS as there
are about that number of SELLERS. That does not
I saved the tale you related in case I ever need to do this. Thank you.

Hello all,
My two and a half cents worth on transactions. When possible, always use
credit cards, but never debit cards. If it is not possible to pay by credit
card - ask yourself this question. "Do I really need this product and is
this vendor the only one selling it"? Your answer should

After a rabbit hole trip through PayPal's endless loop "customer
service" pages, I stumbled on a page that asked what help I needed. I
kept entering "Notice of Delivery". When it ran out of questions and
options, finally I was presented with a page with a 6 digit number on a
black background,

As soon as they split from PayPal ebay now holds onto your funds for a
while. Previously you could sell an item, have funds go right to PayPal,
and instantly move the money our of PayPal. Not so anymore.
It got worse, not better.

I got scammed on PayPal, sent something that wasn’t even close to what I paid
for. The seller in China offered to refund half of the cost. I refused. PayPal
ignored my further complaints and I got zero refund. It was only $30, but
PayPal clearly had zero interest in consumer protection.

Warning: Before you use PayPal to sell a rig, consider using something else.
I just sold a rig through PayPal, with UPS tracking number, but after
payment was received into my account, PayPal placed a 21 DAY HOLD on the
funds.
