Hello,
I'm trying to build the latest EMC2 release, 2.2.8 on a Live-CD
install (Ubuntu 8.0). I've already installed the following missing
packages:
dpgk-dev
libc6-dev
tcl
tcllib
python2.5-dev
mesa-common-dev
libglu-dev
gcc
g++
gettext
After a few minutes of building, the Makefile stops with

Perhaps one of the other build dependencies is missing? There is a

Do you mean Ubuntu 8.04? or Ubuntu 8.10 ?
Do you refer to the LiveCD found at www.linuxcnc.org? or to one from

Are you installing from

I noticed that EMC2 has a charge pump output. Does anyone have a charge
pump input HAL component? One example of its use, might be for limit and
home switches, so that any switch fault (short to ground or supply or
open) could be detected.
note that after installing gettext, you probably need to re-run
configure for it to be picked up.

Gentle persons:
First, let me apologize for flitting on and off this list. I won't bore
you with the details, but on-going health crises in two generations of
my family are making a hash of my concentration on the fun stuff.
Recently, Dave Engvall pointed out my wrong-headed characterization

I'm sorry I wasn't able to put my oar in when this subject came up again
recently. I am interested in playing with rtnet in the Spring.
The trouble is, I'm certain enough of myself to believe I can
successfully lash up some computers running rtai/rtnet and exchanging
messages
Gentle persons:
There was a flurry of messages earlier that touched on running ethernet
to barns and such using either cat-5 cable or wi-fi. Sorry I was in no
position to respond at the time.
I was surprised no one mentioned powerline ethernet technology (or was I

In part because of the need for a parallel port and in part because of
the latency-inducing problems that seem to arise more often with recent
chipsets, we EMC'ers often seek out older motherboards/cpus.
I'm curious to know if anyone has run into the problem of bad capacitors
I've repaired no less than 2 dozen MOBOs of varying brands (Soyo, MSI, Tyan,
Dell, etc.) that all were simply in need of a capacitor or 6. Never
bothered with a kit, just grabbed some from the 'Shack or the junk drawer or
tacked onto an order to Digi-Key or Mouser. Easiest way to diagnose a bad
Hi all,
The pastebin link is to some code generated by Synergy but edited to
get the tool numbers, etc correct for my configuration.
This code executes cleanly on the 2.2.5 on my Mazak but consistently
gives errors (gouging) under 2.2.7 or 2.2.8.
It also worked fine under sim pre-.2.1 (?).
