I want to get a Linux workstation with a printer and cd burner up and
running -all my hardware is supported - I have Mandrake 6.2 on it now.
I want to know how to get the Philips CDRW 800 to burn CDs with a graphical
frontend. The Apollo 2250 is my printer and how do I set that up during the
I got the Old CUPS-O-Matic PPD files (for XPP 1.0 or earlier and KDE 2.x)
for Kword printing.
It looks like the modifed ghostscript drivers come with Redhat 7.2 and
Mandrake 8.2 as well as other leading distributions.
Where does the ppd file go?
Mandrake detected my cd-burner fine and xcdroast burned it fine. Does joliet
(for windows) and iso 9660 level 2 (for mac). I tested it under windows and
it worked fine.
I found this program that does special transparenct patterns and skins and
has some very beautiful textures. I know Gimp
Kword keeps on crashing and saying it
couldn't find the native mime type in kword's desktop file.
It launched before fine.
Since then I changed the setting to load Blackbox by and login by default. I
also set up Kmail and Opera and opened Abiword.
How do I fix it? I removed all the directories
I just reinstalled Mandrake. I think Opera screwed it up, as it uses Qt, but
I'm not going to custmize or install any new applications. I'm mainly using
it for a print station, maybe for the web.

Konqueror, and kpp. I tared up .kde and I then installled blackbox, but I
don't have it automatically login.
With 256 colors, Kword and Abiword seem to take the colors out of the
inactive one. Its kind of a psychedlic

You can't burn cd's, play dvds, you can't upgrade the memory beyond 32 mb.
You have to buy a modem separately. I didn't hear anything about printers.
What all can you do with it? I have a system with only 48 mb of ram and it
is very slow.

It doesn't look like XML is ready for prime time on the web. Netscape 6
supports CSS, Internet Explorer 5 supports XSLT and the combination of this
with the separation of formatting from content, makes 3 times the work
involved with HTML 4.0. And for links you have to still use HTML since the

They seemed to have added the correct MIME types.
