Hello,
I have several size limitations for messages in place (in 'Global
settings' for Message delivery in the whole organisation, at the
Internet Mail Connector) to prevent huge messages both internally and
externally. Although these limits are used, the server can still be
brought to its knees
Nate, Andy, and Ben,
thanks for all of your help concerning this issue. I finally received a
1221 message from the server at 6 pm last night. It told me I have 6509
Megabytes of space free. Very cool. I will be doing another eseutil /d
/priv over the weekend and another backup.

What filtering software are you using? Tumbleweed MMS is a great if pricey
package. It catches a GREAT deal of the spam that comes in. However we
just tag it and pass it on through (No I'm not proud of it). At some point
I am hoping to be able to just drop spam all together and expect to see

Hello again. Here's another question I'd like to throw out there.
In using W2K, Exchange 5.5 (SP4) OFFICE XP on the client side. Without
manually for each individual mailbox on our exchange server, is there a
system-wide rule or 3rd party utility that we can use to create a folder
inside each
Natively, no.
There may be a 3rd party tool out there for this, but I cant think of any.

You need to write some code to do that.

Last week I posting to this list about SMTP between our
current E2K
Exch 2k, SP3 on Win 2K SP3 plus patches and hotfixes.
I am completing a migration from Exch 55. I had to remove an errant
3rd-party connector using ADSIEdit. The connector was successfully
removed, but I caused a greater problem in the process. I can no longer
view the Mailbox Store in Exchange
Don't see it in my logs, I see a lot of MIMAIL, but not YAHA.
Do you have attachment blocking?

The new version is out and I know some of you said the earlier one was
buggy and wouldn't open up stores some of the time. I have already used
the new one and it will open up stores that the older version will not.
I think the error before was Invalid Data. Just FYI.
Ok, here is my 74 cents. Its more than two because I have done this.
In the Exchange SDK, there is a DLL that you can compile that, with a bit of
vb code (or vbscript), will allow you to create a rule on each mailbox.
Problem is the rule can only be manipulated in code. It does not show in

Thanks Michael. The old one certainly didn't work as well as we would like
so I'll give the new one a go.

Ah yes. Missed that part.
If I was only stopping one service, I may only put it in there once in a

I spent some time looking through it, but couldn't find an answer. It does talk about
setting up routes, but if I set up a route for all email to go to another port/server,
then that SMTP sends it back, I have a loop. I don't see any way to avoid the loop.
I can't seem to reconfigure Win2k SMTP
I guess if you have multiple IP addresses, you could configure multiple
SMTP virtual servers. Then configure multiple SMTP Connectors. One
connector with *=1 cost and the other with *specialdomain.com=1 cost.
Use one SMTP virtual server as bridgehead for one SMTP connector and the
other SMTP
I think I follow, but doesn't this still create a loop? The problem is, the SMTP
server on port 26 is a Spam marking system, which after it processes the messages,
needs to send them back to Exchange.
Another, larger, problem is that it appears that if you set up a SMTP virtual server

I have been using Trend for years but I am currently with an org that uses
Norton for Exchange and they have been having problems for quite some
time. There are 5 servers in one site all with SP4 on NT4 SP6.
The question I need answered is does Trend support single instance
scanning of messages
Why not just setup a relay server with Trend running on it. Four less
machines to worry about.

You need to spam-mark inbound mail?
Maybe it would be easier to just implement a separate non-Exchange SMTP
system upstream, before mail hits the Exchange server.
