Permissions have changed after mailbox move
Dear all, We have moved a load of mailboxes, some to one server and others to another server. These are newly installed and newly joined to the site. It seems that for some of the mailboxes, they no longer allow nominated delegates to view their calendars. The permissions are there and they are correct, but whereas the nominees could formerly read the users calendars, now they cannot. We cannot see what has changed. Some other oddities are that people who were using Outlook97 who could previously read these calendars now can only read them if we upgrade them to outlook 2000. What is happening? cannot find domain controller
Dear all, we have a problem that has been going on for weeks. We have one exchange site with 5 servers, Ex5.5 sp4 plus patches, NT4 sp6 plus patches. They are all in one NT domain abc. They have to communication with a PDC in a separate domain xyz for purposes of authentication as all users accounts are in this separate domain. It complains in event logs cannot find domain controller for xyz domain error 5719. We know this is a secure channel problem then. So we have trawled the knowledge base and done literally everything suggested anywhere! we have been down the path of nbstat, browstat and all those reskit tools. We found an article where we can run a reskit command setprfdc xyz pdcname and this makes a secure channel to the appropriate PDC. Trouble is the exchange server doesn't stay talking to the PDC, it drops out with 5719, we have to run setprfdc every hour or users cannot access mail!!! Could it be our abc domain controller? We have support call open to microsoft who only suggest everything we have tried and are generally dragging their heels. We've ruled out all the network level stuff, switches NICs etc. Help please, anything we haven't thought of. public folder recovery
Dear all, a user has deleted a public folder and all its subfolders..duh! She has owner permission on the all the folders and is using outlook 2000 client. If we select all public folders and then recover deleted items we can see the main public folder we wish to retrieve, but when we try to recover it , it complains that we do not have permission to recover some or all of the items. All KB articles say we have to have all permissions on the folders which we do have (i.e. owner with edit, delete etc permission) I have tried it being logged on as exchadmin, also does not work. What else can we try? Deleted item retention is on and we are still within the relevant time period. I'd prefer to avoid going to backups! Exchange 5.5 sp4 on NT4 sp6. Sorry, meant to say it's Win2K VPN server. What happens is that the outlook client hangs indefinitely, if the user is using VPN. firewall problem
Dear all, I have several exchange servers which work fine through a firewall except one, using the TechNet recommended ports for DS and IS of 1300 and 1301 respectively. The one that doesn't work is one which is running Win2K. The others run NT4. I have set the ports to 1300 and 1301 in the registry as usual, but the server is ignoring this fact. It is just using random ports and so I am having to change the firewall ports instead!!! The ports it uses change after every reboot, so obviously, this is troublesome. Anyone have a fix for this? Hello all, I have a Microsoft Exchange server 5.5 sp4, latest fixes running on Windows2000 sp1 server. I have built it in the same way as all my other servers in the same site though they are all on Windows NT, not 2000. Problem is that if I go to a pc where there is a profile for a user and logon as someone else, i.e. not that user, we can read that users mail. It doesn't matter who logs on, we can all read the person's mail! It is not an isolated case, it happens with all mail accounts on this server, but not on any other servers. What am I missing? THe mailboxes look just the same as all those in the rest of the site. Is there some security thing about 2000 that I am unaware of? If I try and do an open other users folder, that does not work, it seems only to be when you are on a machine that has a profile for mailboxes on this particular server. Help, this is not good, many thanks Vanessa Watkins Network Manager Royal Holloway, University of London _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED] _ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Archives: http://www.swynk.com/sitesearch/search.asp To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
