I have read the VPN howto and linux VPN masquerade. The
former is if you want to create your own local VPN. The
latter one indicates that you must patch the source and
recompile the kernel.

The smbusers files is used when the Windows logon and linux logon do not
match. If my Windows logon is xyz123 and my linux logon is bill then:
bill = xyz123
would map requests from windows user xyz123 to the linux user bill and would

a Netgear RT311 dsl router as my firewall and since I got the cheapest
package, it comes with the dynamic address. When I set up 7.1, it
