I've been compiling stuff for sometime very well on a Redhat system. However,
I recently installed Mandrake 7.2 and probably botched the install somehow
because many of the packages I need aren't installed.
For instance, here I am attempting to compile gnapster, and it seems that
eve
/usr/lib/libdl.so --> glibc-devel-2.1.3-16mdk
/lib/libdl.so.2 --> glibc-2.1.3-16mdk
you may want to try a link from .1 to .2 and see what happens. I have
7.1 on my laptop still but its not available now to check.

I've used nfs install quite a bit. The path should be to the top dir of
the cd tree. Try giving the ipaddr of the nfs server instead of the
hostname.

The last months or so DrakConf has been updating the grub
/boot/grub/menu.lst and syncing with /etc/lilo.conf. Suddenly today I
got the lilo boot menu instead the grub boot menu. How to change from
lilo to grub and vice versa? Settings in DrakConf?

This isn't going to fix your problem, but just note that using the
ideX=0x?,0x? append lines results in you using the ide
controller in legacy mode. You might want to try ideX=dma instead at
some stage and compare the resluts you get from

You might also want to check for network errors... I have problems with ssh
dropping with corrupted checkbytes; but I've narrowed that down to errors on my
ethernet.

Have you updated kde yet. kdebase contains the konqueror (don't know
where the fonts are). If not look on a mirror under
mandrake-devel/unsupported and you will find some things that may tickle

You should probably write a startup script that
contains what you have put in your rc.local, and just ensure that it runs
before smb,named,dhcp etc by ensuring that the symlink in your run-level
directory has a lower value than the first newtork service.
