I, too, noticed that. My net server/dev box (p166 w/80MB) runs far faster with 7.2 than with 8.1. If I'm not running KDE or Gnome then things run better, especially if I'm running Blackbox. CPU usage is a lot higher when the machine sits idle...

The AMD 5x86 is a fast 486, nothing more. It's 100% 486 architecture; they

I just upgraded to kernel 2.4.2 on my laptop. Everything works except for
my 3Com 10/100 Lan card (3CCFE575BT). I noticed that there was no module
for it when I configured 2.4.2 but didn't think much of it. I wen in and
check 2.2.17 and there IS one in that kernel. How would I go about getting

Just want to know of a good resource on setting up a proxy server/router
using linux. What I want to do is have 1 machine for my proxy that also
provides my internet connection to 3 other boxes. The 3 machines also need
to be able to transfer data between themselves. The box I want to use is a

a mylar bag with about 10 NIC's in it already) it looks like I might just
need to buy a switch and remove 2 NIC's. PMFirewall might be the answer.

Yeah, I've already used FreeSCO. That's more of what I was looking for, but
I was thinking that I might want to do a bit of web browsing from that
machine. Also, FreeSCO only allows me to hook up 2 pc's directly. I do have

job (we were throwig 'em out, brand new) and was wondering if anyone has
ever used one successfully with Linux? If not, I'll try to write an XF4
driver for it, but it'll take a while.

If it's a Savage4 based card, it will work. You won't have any 3D
accelleration, but 2D is fine. I have a Savage4 in my box.

I'm looking for info that will help me port a few dos game emulators (NES,
Super NES, Arcade machines, ect...) to Linux. What I'm looking for
