Oh, I think he *was* happy--because he thought he'd just written a brilliant
takedown of religion and religious people. Penetrating and insightful, he told
himself. And so superbly written! Fantastic touch at the end contrasting those
people's tortured, miserable lives with his own serene existence in just a few
choice phrases.

Actually he doesn't have the insight of a flea, and he's a lousy writer,
intensely self-conscious, mannered, and cliche-ridden.

His rant from that day contains this charming observation:

I mean, they're responding to the bells by filing into the cathedral like
lemmings, doing the genuflect dance, and then praying to him/her/it to forgive
them for something they did last week while *they* were having fun. Then, their
"sin guilt" taken care of, they pray to this same him/her/it to Make Things
Different Than They Are.

Not trusting the wisdom of this mental God-construct they're praying to, they
ask him/her/it to cure their genital warts, to get them that promotion at work
that they don't really deserve, to rain fire and brimstone on their neighbors
who kept them up partying last night, and to save the unborn children while
simultaneously killing those who would abort them in the most horrific way
possible. Amen.

Yes, Barry in his wisdom has decided that ALL the people visiting the
magnificent cathedral of ND that day were all sub-humans (lemmings) who were
going in for the express purpose of praying for their neighbors' deaths.

Am I the only one who wonders how much energy it must take to constantly feel
so smug and superior to everyone else? Not to mention being the greatest
mind-reader who ever lived and conjuring up wild doomsday scenarios for his own
entertainment.

Tough job, but I guess *somebody's* got to do it.

He then finishes up with this gem:

Me, I'm just sitting here enjoying the blue skies and reasonably warm
temperatures, the beauty of the Seine flowing by, and the glorious taste of my
coffee. I'm appreciating the wonderful here-and-now-ness of Here And Now, and
feeling remarkably happy.

Yes, he certainly sounds "remarkably happy" now doesn't he? (snicker)

As regards a Yahoo Group spiritualfreedomgroup AKA The Corner, certain people
have been on vacation. I was near a beach in a Northeastern state; another was
in a different country, also on vacation. Some us us have other things going on
in our lives besides these groups. Discussions, when they occur are about the
common or uncommon interests, and politics is not too much of a topic of
discussion; there are two political candidates in the US, one will win, one
will lose, and opinions concerning these are like flack during a bombing raid
trying to deflect anti-aircraft guns. And JS is not there so discussions have
an uncommon cordiality even when there is disagreement. We also do not have
certain trolls which up the post numbers but not the discussions. If I could,
which I can't, I would post occasionally to FFL, but Doug doesn't seem to like
me. While I opposed his taking over FFL, for I think he has a religious rather
than a spiritual mindset, I am quite capable of following the Yahoo guidelines.

Sure, my vote would be for you to be reinstated as you're pretty benign (read
that sometimes boring) but relatively harmless. But my vote for your inclusion
would have to include the condition that you not tell us what those drones are
saying over at The Water Closet. I can only take so much repetitiveness and ego.

My keeping track of postings to these forums has basically one purpose, it
gives me something to do on occasion; and I have an hypothesis, that there are
more posts when opposing views are discussed, and even more posts when opposing
views simply snipe at each other or others just post random comments that have
nothing to do anything except their need to post.

So, you are implying we are sniping instead of having worthwhile opposing
views? I see how it is; you can't win with you. Too few posts and we are The
Peak and all lovey dovey, too many posts and we are arguing for the sake of
arguing but the dearth of posts at The Closet (IMO) implies a lack of interest
and input by others which sort of reeks of a kind of incest.

I hope this post doesn't upset the apparent death of FFL-2.

magnificent cathedral of ND that day were all sub-humans (lemmings) who were
going in for the express purpose of praying for their neighbors' deaths.

(snicker)

A sad irony in this thread which has been sore effect for the community here

technically disbarred, disenfranchised by guideline, from membership

The Maharishi Foundation ™.org National standards for participation as they

excluding from the Dome meditations here and other sponsored ™ group

This has been applied to old ™’ers for quite a number of years. For some
number of years the patronizing ($) non-Maharishi jyotish/yagya was certain
grounds for exclusion from the Dome meditations and used to exclude practicing
meditators from membership in the group. Meditators are now free to ‘consult’
with non-maharishi jyotishi but the exclusion still stands over ‘promoting’ in
practice jyotish using other systems deemed non-Maharishi jyotish astrology.

A conservative or fanatical business mind that is welded with strong emotional
(fanatical) belief inside about the exclusivity of all ™ teachers are thinking
that all old, de-certs, re-certs and new ™ teachers are sales representatives
of all that is now ™ and hence are strictly liable to business non-compete
constraints through the movement right to administratively denying membership
using the validation of Dome badges for inclusion in the communal group
practice of meditation as a preferred means of sales-force discipline.

In effect what could be adjudicated by a human resources department or a legal
department more narrowly with employees they instead have used the group
meditation as the retributive means (weapon) of disciplining others to their
sense of fealty. Employing the use of the group practice of meditation as their
primary tool of discipline over membership has been incredibly corrosive in
their bold leading of a decades long decline in a metric of what was a larger
group. It is still a fundamental problem within the group.

from Fairfield, Iowa have been trained in and are quite long experienced and
accomplished in jyotish astrology and now a number of top jyotish astrologers
in the West are of what is the old meditating community of Fairfield.

Pat Hayward, for instance, is regarded as an astrologer and has been consulted
by many many people both here in Fairfield and of the world. He became
established in this craft while living in Fairfield, Iowa as a recognized
member of the meditating community here.

Two others who are recognized as being highly scholarly within astrology,

 David Hawthorne: http://www.astroview.com/background

 Penny Farrow: http://www.vedicchart.com/about/ http://www.vedicchart.com/about/
These three stand out as examples as there are also others quietly living here
having been students of Maharishi jyotish and as time has gone along also
studying with these three and other top astrologers and systems in the field.
Fairfield is an adept community this way.

I was recently visiting a substantial Indo-American cultural center [temple]
out East and read on one of their bulletin boards of an upcoming series of
scholarly classes being taught there on jyotish by Penny Farrow.

As time has gone along these people are being pulled on for both their
academic and practical experience with astrology.

There is a lot of this resource available in the meditating community of
Fairfield, Iowa. It is quite easy to find consultation on it, even in the
coffee houses of the town. It becomes just like asking about the weather, “How
much rain did you get last night and what have you heard is the forecast?”
