Hi Stan,
Jersey's potassium
maybe this will help. I hope it doesn't hurt. But I always looked forward to going to pick up my babies' ashes. I felt glad to bring them home, and I didn't like them being away. Maybe, well of course I AM crazy, but I felt just like when I had to leave them for procedures, etc... when they were
And Lisa too. I'm sure Kerry meant to include you in this. It's been
such a horrendous week for all of us sharing in your grief.

You're right about the education, Nina---I phone-interviewed a petsitter
last night--a petsitter who purportedly also volunteers for the cat
shelter where I found my FeLV kitties. (The kitties did not come

Hi all,
Just wanted to let you know I'm without computer until next week sometime.
Barbara,
I have Jersey from the semi- beginning when he was a baby. I just learned him to walk outside and get home. I lived in Brooklyn for 1 and a halfyears before I moved to Ohio. Here, he was fine till late January when he started sneezing and one of his eyes got red. The temp. was high. I
the coincidence today--while walking my dog around
my neighborhood--another neighbor came up to warn me he recently had to take his
dog to the ER for treatment for the raccoon caused disease--and the dog's
symptoms sound alot like Jersey's. the disease sounds like
lepto-something.

Hi Stan,
I don't have anything to add that might help with Jersey's trouble. I
wish I did. I just wanted you to know that I'm sending good thoughts
your way and pray you find a way to help him get better. You're a
wonderful cat-dad, Jersey is lucky to have someone who loves him so much.
Hi,
I'm very behind on my email, but I'm so sorry to read that Stitch didn't make it. He is at rest now. You certainly did everything you could, and I hope that you've been getting some rest yourself now as you said. Again, I'm so sorry you had to lose your friend.

I'm the same way I want my babies home as soon as possible. I
have a shelf next to my grandfather clock for my furkids. My Dad is on
my computer desk.

Nina,
Funny you should say that. I don't know if I have mentioned it since re-joining the List, but one of my dogs IS a Great Dane. And he turned 3 last month. They have actually upped the lifespan average to 7-10 years IF they are well cared for. This is true of all the giant breeds- they have
I'm sorry! I think Kerry was just responding to my post which did not include Lisa. I am trying to keep track of everything but again, the digest mode makes it more of a process. At least for me. It is just really sad that there are SO MANY losses that I could actually miss one. So Lisa, I am
I know they will be ok. Her message did say that they were there, but it was no rush and just to come in when I am ready. After all that they witnessed, I know that they know I will NOT be one of those owners who doesn't show up! I will probably go get them on Monday if they are open. For some odd
Hi Laurie.
I've named her "Bones". She's going to live, in
fact she's looking very good now. All rehydrated and eating well on her own now.
I'm awaiting funds to get her to the vet, I wont have any money until Wednesday.
However, she seems to be MUCH improved with just some home nursing. My

Another thing I used to do to help with ants at our place in the lake is this. I would wipe all the counters, doorframes, etc with soapy water and not rinse them. Use a lemon scented dishwashing liquid or lemon scented bleach or lemon whatever. Evidently insects don't like the citrus scent.

On a more important note. Be sure you're careful when you put up the notices. If someone calls you want to check THEM out before you tell them you have the cat. You

Not in my situation. My fear is that since this was my first experience

Another thing I do now when I lose one of my babies is to save a clipping of their hair. I put it in the top of the container with their ashes. I know it sounds weird, but for some reason I like to have that remembrance. (If you've never opened one of those containers, the cremains are in another

You're right. It 'can' happen. Unfortunately, as many strays as I've taken in there have only ever been 1 or 2 I've found that had 'good' parents actually looking for them. The cat Lovey, that Brenda just took in got into that position. Someone found him in a storm, felv positive, not neutered,
Thank you for the link. I'm from Georgia, and I was surprised I had never heard of it before. It's very interesting I think!

I look at it this way... if they wanted the cat
in the first place, they would have posted her as missing at all the local vet's
offices, so I've done enough already.
I just went to tend to her, and she can't get up.
Her back is very unstable now. She is going to need surgery to stabilize
