Hey Terrie,
I'm sorry about your daughter's Big Red kitty. It
sounds like your husband might also be sad about
losing his sleeping partner. I hope your daughter and
your husband are taking it ok. A lot of loss recently
it seems. Prayers for strength going out to you and
yours.

Her fever is up to normal (she was cold yesterday) and she's a bit
more alert, but still very ill.
He has her on a broadspectrum antibiotic and interferon (human, not feline).
Anyone who wants to see her lab results let me know...I will email

you have a cat withthis? Did you give the IR when he
had it? I know you sid it has kept him from having

Just from my own experience with Smokey. He had high
fevers like Ki and the vet started him on Winstrol to
help him feel better and IR. I truly believe the IR
helped him get over the fevers. I gave it to him
subq. I know it says IV but subq has worked so far
with him.

I had a kitty with severe anemia, and ordered the IR,
but he was too far gone for it to work. He had a low
body temp. so the IR was not for temp. for him. Cindy
might be the one who uses the IR for temps for her
kitty, Smokey, but I'm not sure.
I hope his fever goes away soon!

Hi everyone. I wanted to provide an update on my FeLV pos. and lymphosarcoma cat Monkee. He saw his Vet yesterday to determine whether the Epogen had helped his anemia. The news was very bad. Apparently last week, when the anemia started, his Red Blood cell count was 13%. After a week ( 3 doses
Winstrol is a steroid. Vets use it a lot for horses.
Long term use is not recommended but short term is

It is a steroid. The vet gave Smokey this because she
said it would help him to feel better and to feel like
eating. He only got the Winstrol injections every 2

Hang in there Dede. Ki's situation could go either

weaken an immune system, but your vet has to weigh the

Epogen takes anywhere from 2 to three weeks to work and they can and
usually do go lower in the meantime. Bailey's HCT went from 20% to 15%
while we waited for the epogen to kick in it took a little over 2 weeks,
and after it started working, within 5 weeks or so he was normal again.

That is *not her decision* and I would NEVER see a vet that would set

This is flat NOT true, when Bailey became anemic we did beat that, it

33%. he was still getting epo but his dose was tapered down to once a

Everytime I hear this I post this, Bailey's anemia was non regenerative

and it is not a good anemia to have. It means the leukemia is probably active

Just got back from the vet. She put him on Delta
Albaplex. It has several antibiotics and
prednisolone. We are to use it for 5 days.
Took blood. She said it looked thin. His gums are
OK, but it looks like he is amemic.
I called Revival. The IR is only 5ml. How much do
you use at a time?
I got my Epogen (the generic Epoetin) from my Vet and it costs $78 for teeny tiny bottle! Monkee got three subcutaneous injections of it- only .3 ml- on a Tuesday, then Thursday, then Saturday. That was how the Vet prescribed it for Monkee's anemia.
