[Felvtalk] Mikey
Hi Belinda,I noticed that Mikey was noy added yet to the CLS.He passed away on March 10.Here is my original post. Well we lost Mikey one of our Katrina kitties. This orange boy was a different kind of kitty. When he first came to us he was a a skittish scaredy cat(could you blame him?)All that he had to go through to get to us.We had a LOVE-Hate realationship, really love but you know how it goes. :) Well last night while doing the feedings at Sids I noticed he was not acting like his normal pain in the butt self.So we let Jen know and today she had to let him go cause he was just in a bad way.I did tell him that I loved him last night and kissed him on his head before I went home. We will miss you Mikey Sherry I'm not sure that it made it through the first time.Thank you so much for the CLS "We who choose to surround ourselves with lives more temporary than our own, Live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps. We still would have it no other way" ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org

How wonderful he found a home at an age most cats would be killed as unadoptable and in a home where he was accepted despite his grief and confusion. Jonathan was truly blessed that you found him and that he found you. That doesn't make his leaving any easier...maybe it makes it harder. He is still very near you and still loving you. Re: [Felvtalk] feeling guilty
Having worked to find owners post Katrina and now working with a shelter in LA, I know that chips are sometimes the very last thing people remember to update when they move or change phone #s. Don't know what chip company you talked to but, be sure to ask them: 1) When/where the chip was implanted--that can give you the orig vet or shelter as well as give u a hint as to age 2) ALL the alternate contacts listed 3) The name and address of the owner as well as the phone # If that doesn't help, feel free to e-mail me--I've had some pretty good success tracking people whose chip info was outdated. Re: [Felvtalk] Feeling Guilty
I completely understand where you are coming from, I currently have 8 cats, and although my house is large as well, with just my husband and I, it is a bit much for me. I love my cats and several are special needs (I only have one FeLV+) right now, but just keeping up with the cleaning and getting them back and forth to the vet (due to work) is a struggle. I've never had 8 before and frankly 5-6 is my limit, but I ended up having to keep 2 of my foster kittens, long story! Anyway, try not to feel guilty, you are doing your part and each of us should only take on as much as we can handle, that way you will do your very best for the kitties that you have. I wish I could handle more, and when my husband and I retire it's something I'm thinking about, but for now I am done. I was going to take a cat from NY but had an emergency rescue of one who was going to be put to sleep. I had to tell this person that I can't take the cat. We are getting our last one from Indiana, that has been planned for months. I worry about being reported to the ASPCA for having too many cats. We currently have 13, plus 1 from indiana makes 14. I wish I could rescue them all. In 2-3 years, when we get more financialy stable, we are going to convert a house that we are currently renting, into a cattery so I can rescue more cats. But for now we run it out of our home, which is large, but is getting over run by cats. Any advice or words of comfort is appreciated. ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org ___ Felvtalk mailing list Felvtalk@felineleukemia.org http://felineleukemia.org/mailman/listinfo/felvtalk_felineleukemia.org

Lane Subject: [Felvtalk] Please add Bob to the bridge list To: felvtalk@felineleukemia.org Date: Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 4:43 PM Bob was a wonderful little gray tabby FELV boy that I took in from a couple here who rescue cats. He was found at a truck stop on the highway, all alone, last November, and such a sweetie! But then he tested positive for FELV. The folks who brought him to me were just devastated, just loved him so much, as I did. They thought he was not quite a year old, and we were all hoping he'd make it longer. Bob was fine - eating heartily, playful - until March. He became lethargic and the vet said he was severely anemic. He got a blood transfusion, and was on prednisone, pettinic, etc. But just couldn't make it back from his sickness. He died the early morning of March 17, 2009, and with St Patrick's help went to the Rainbow Bridge where he was greeted by all our other sweet feline kitties. Sleep soft sweet Bob.
