Karen, I have Feline Transfer Factor in powder form.
Should I be used the Transfer Factor Nano Plus instead? She is not FeLV+
but

is not a good eater.
Thanks,

Judy,

I just noticed that your kitty is having breathing problems. That worried
me. In all of my treatments for FeLV, I use Transfer Factor Plus in
addition to other supportive treatments depending upon the symptoms .You
can

do what you want, but the only reason that I paid the money and became a
distributor was so that I could order it at wholesale. I was using it on
multiple species and with the amount that I was using it just made sense
to

pay the money to become a distributor to get it wholesale. (By the way, I
and my 84 yr old cancer surviving mother who mows 2 acres of grass with a
push mower and rakes it by hand both take it.)

I have seen great improvement in surrounding cardiac fluid decrease, liver
and kidney malady fluid problems remedied with the treatment of TF (all of
which can cause breathing difficulties and fluid build-up around the lungs
and heart).

I can't go into the trials I have done tonight because I have 2 mares
ready

to foal. I would suggest your kitty to take one Transfer Plus Nano
Factor/day. Hopefully it will decrease the fluid about the lung and
heart.
My ID number is 6109801 and the company's toll free number is 888-454-3374
.

I would also suggest that you buy some fresh chicken livers and slow cook
them on a low heat until the outsides appear cookedleave the centers a
bit pink. Use the water from the cooking as drinking water for your cat
and

feed the livers as best you can. (Whole, chopped, mashed.) Maybe need to
mash them, cut them up, etc. Whatever, put all water and livers in a
closed
container for further feeding, to decrease O2 from mixing. The boiled
water

will have better hydrating effects, as we used to call it'Heavy
Water...Will have increased hydration plus increased iron content. Put
this for drinking water separately or over anything the cat will eat to
help

the anemia and fluid replenishment. Feed the liver as best you can, (In
addition to the Nutrical) and as needed sub/cut Lactated Ringers
(previous

email).

If your kitty resumes appetite, I am a big fan of a raw diet (I can send
recipes if that occurs), as this is what nature gave the feline for the
best

immune support. Keep in mindeven the Wal-mart diet food, if that is
what your cat wants to eat is great. Food in any form is good! What ever
the cat will eat is great. Don't worry about this diet or that. (And
that
is from an Animal Nutritionist.) Just get the cat to eat something it
will

eat.

Good luck, and good eating to your feline friend.

Karen Griffith 740-992-5782

P.S. Here is a non-company, non-distributor site to read a few abstracts
of

research papers (human), but will give you an idea of Transfer Factors'
effectiveness. (Click on all of the links from overseas.)

As a nurse you will appreciate the results.

Kelly,

Haven't seen any research on congenital heart defect. Have used it
(Transfer Factor) with several very old cats including one of mine that
died at known over 25 yrs of age.

He, before TF would fill up abdominally and around lungs and heart (severe
respitory distress due to fluid build up).. After 1 TF/day and no other
treatment, would do fine with in 2 days, and continue to improve. Abdominal
swelling gone, respitory distress alleviated, normal eating and breathing.
Not saying it will help heart defect, but found it to decrease vascular
inflammation and do away with the usual abdominal/lung filling of fluid
associatiated with cardiac failure. After his diagnosis of cardiac, liver,
kidney failure, he lived another 9
years. Keep in mind that this is just one case with no double blind
control. Just my experience with TF in this situation.

How were his liver values? He isn't yellow at all (whites of eyes,
insides of ears)? Just worry about hepatic lipidosis, the couple of
run ins we've had with it were very, very sick cats but a friend just
had a rescue who looked so good (also eating pretty well) they had no
idea she was jaundiced though there was yellow they were missing.

If so she should be on a SAME med like denosyl or denamarin and likely
some other supplements as well, with force feeding or a feeding tube.

I'm not an expert but wanted to mention--keep up posted!

Welcome! Glad you are here and sorry for reason. But, it isn't a death
sentence! My FeLv+ cats, Squeaky and Stripes lived to ages 22 and 16.

Re Wilson, it is really important to get him eating asap. Cats, unlike
humans, cannot go long without eating their normal amount of food. They risk
liver failure after 24-48 hours of not eating their normal amount of food.
When this happen, they don't want to eat. Please consider also joining
Feline Assisted Feeding for information about food needs and feeding
options.

For my anorexic cats, vets have suggested canned Fancy Feast, canned
Friskies and chicken baby food (without garlic). A friend with a sanctuary
recommends Whiskas in packets with cheese. Weruva canned Paw Lickin chicken,
Solid Gold canned tuna and canned Petguard Turkey and Barley Lite, human
salmon, human canned mackerel and cooked tilapia have been irresistible for
my cats. They also like Wellness turkey and salmon. Isabella, FeLV+, likes
dry EVO and canned Fancy Feast. My FeLV+ cats have not had eating issues but
other cats with whom I share my home have. Have you tried baking a chicken
thigh (dark meat) or even (gag) Kentucky Fried chicken?

Hi Judy
We all know what a heartbreak a Felv diagnosis is, but as all of us
on this list know, there is always hope.
Have you tried Nutri-cal? Although I have never used it, I have heard
it described as a highly caloric paste
that is used to help cats maintain weight and also to stimulate their
appetite.

I have a 3 year old who was diagnosed when we got her when she was
around a year. She was highly symptomatic
(URI, swollen glands, chronic diarrhea, stomatitis etc) and it took
several months for her to recover, but she has
and she is living an (almost) normal and active life. If you can get
help with his eating issues, there is always hope that
he will recover and begin to feel like a 'normal' kittie. There is
always hope and there are people on this list who have

cats who are living far beyond statistics.

Hoping Wilson Combat can recover.

Re: [Felvtalk] I'm new here...

2009-04-23 Thread Kerry MacKenzie

Dear all
Just been reading the most recent postswhere Imulan is
mentioned, is it shorthand for LCTI ---Imulan's product?

I just want to be clear -- I only just heard of this product.
Thanks, Kerry

(This offer also goes to anyone on the list that would like some

a lifelong animal lover, especially of cats, and have owned many.
Currently, I have an 11 month old grey tabby, Wilson Combat, who
is fel leuk positive. I found out about the diagnosis when I had
him neutered at 5 months, and last weekend had him checked again,
due to lethargy, no appetite, and third eyelid over one eye. He
is still positive. His blood was checked, and actually his count
was pretty good. However, he still isn't eating, and just moping
around.

I have offered him every kitty treat I can think of( cooked
chicken, hamburger, tuna), with no luck. He purrs, and looks
good,no vomiting or diarrhea, but the anorexia has to lead to
major weight loss. Do these cats get better and then worse in
cycles? I would suspect that. I am an RN and have had comparable
experiences with people with devastating diagnoses, and guessed
that this cat's case may be similar. I am so sad about all this,
and I guess I just need some support!

We are letting him go outside. He has his own kitty door...We are
very isolated, and my husband and I want him to be as happy as he
can be. I know the risks.

Thanks!

2009-04-23 Thread Sharyl

Judy, the link to the Assist Feeding group is
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Feline-Assisted-Feeding/

As Laurie said it is important to get enough calories into Wilson. Often
gently warmed meat baby food will entice kitties to eat. It is easy to syringe
and some kitties will lick it off a baby spoon.
Hugs to Wilson

Welcome! Glad you are here and sorry
for reason. But, it isn't a death
sentence! My FeLv+ cats, Squeaky and Stripes lived to ages
 22 and 16.

Re Wilson, it is really important to get him eating asap.
 Cats, unlike
humans, cannot go long without eating their normal amount
 of food. They risk
liver failure after 24-48 hours of not eating their normal
 amount of food.
When this happen, they don't want to eat. Please consider
 also joining
Feline Assisted Feeding for information about food needs
 and feeding
 options.

For my anorexic cats, vets have suggested canned Fancy
 Feast, canned
Friskies and chicken baby food (without garlic). A friend
 with a sanctuary
recommends Whiskas in packets with cheese. Weruva canned
 Paw Lickin chicken,
Solid Gold canned tuna and canned Petguard Turkey and
 Barley Lite, human
salmon, human canned mackerel and cooked tilapia have been
 irresistible for
my cats. They also like Wellness turkey and salmon.
 Isabella, FeLV+, likes
dry EVO and canned Fancy Feast. My FeLV+ cats have not had
 eating issues but
other cats with whom I share my home have. Have you tried
 baking a chicken
thigh (dark meat) or even (gag) Kentucky Fried chicken?

Re: [Felvtalk] I'm new here...

2009-04-23 Thread Karen Griffith

Jane,

I am in no way connected to Immulan. Personally, I feel there has not been
enough control group research on the product, and not enough availability of
what research there has been. Having said that, I have seen some
improvement of symptoms with it's use in one of my client's cats. (She
decided to give it a try on it's own with a couple of kitties, and also
used it in combination with Transfer Factor Plus, where she found better
results.) I myself have not used it. Will wait until it has been on the
market a bit longer and see if there are side effects, etc.

I am associated with 4- Life Transfer Factor, as I had used it in many
situations, read over 600 research paper on it, and myself ran several
trials where antibiotics and other meds didn't do the job. I found it very
useful in the treatment of URI's, chronic infections, FeLV, non-healing
wounds, EPM, joint-ill in foals, tumor regression, etc. After seeing it's
success in these varying situations, and the amount I was using, I became a
distributor.

As far as feeding the cat with little to no appetite, Nutrical works very
well as a food replacement and is very palatable.

It is foaling season here, so am called out most every night to deliver a
baby (equine), but will set down soon and write what I have found to be
helpful for the FELV kitties.
