Can't you crop the PS in Preview, using the Marquee tool and then the
Crop button?
And I'm probably missing something crucial here, but why are you
bothering with EPS at all? If you're trying to place Finale examples
in a Word file, can't you just print to PDF crop what you need, then

Yes, same results.
Could it possibly be the location of your arrowhead? Have you tried
placing it somewhere else and exporting that as EPS?

Another day, another problem. WinFin06. I'm cleaning up a draft in Page View

Maybe try the Check Region For Durations plugin? That might give you

I would appreciate someone pointing me to a resource that tells how best to
go about getting permission to set a published poem to music, with the
expectation that the resulting piece will be performed and published
eventually, even if just by me.
Thanks, all -

You need to contact the copyright holder of the poem.
Send a letter stating your request and intended outcome. It can help
to send a short resume so they know better who you are.
I've had no difficulty in securing permission, particularly from
living poets, when I tell them just how much

Leigh, I tried the Check Durations and it had no effect. I also have
deleted the offending mm. and inserted new ones, re-entered the notes . . .
and the problems recurrs! I'm stumped!

Ah. I had forgotten that Word couldn't handle PDFs properly. I use
Pages myself.
Apple just released Pages '08 (part of iWork '08), so you should be
able to activate another 30-day trial. But it's only $80 (for the
entire iWork suite) so you might as well just buy it, so you won't
have

Bruce,
Have you thought that the magical rests actually belong to the
PREVIOUS measure? I see that a lot.
I think TG Tools handles tremolos of chords by creating a tuplet
(say, two half-notes in the space of one) and if you re-enter a
value, you might end up with more notes than the
It can be deceiving but the extra rests are actually in the measure *before*
where they appear to be.

Thanks, everyone, for helping. I'm embarrased to say that I found the
problem. In one of my drafts (score view) the meter change (from 5/4 to
3/4) somehow dropped out. The mm. remained visually the same, but when I
went to edit the ties the problem with the rests occured. I finally backed

I think you may need to delete the old version of the player from your
system. I had the same problem until I realised that I had both the old
and new versions of the Kontakt player. Deleting the old version solved
the problem.

Paul,
Where might the old version be?
I only see the updated one in my applications folder.

Remove system locks, then update layout. Update layout alone won't
fix it.

Thanks, everyone. I had removed system locks and updated layout (from page
1), which I should have mentioned. I redid both processes to confirm that I
had done them before and the problem persists.

Is it possible that there is so much music in the measures that
