Personally, I think it is already really good. (I am talking about
having parts in one file and score in another.) Compared to the old
extracted parts it is light years better. It

Actually, there is no reason why you cannot have linked parts in the
score file, so what I do is this: I often start working on the parts
while I

Essentially, yes. One of the copies of the file is used to
create a perfect layout for the score, which often results
in ugly parts. The other copy is used
I hope Finale really is amazing 100 years from now! :-)

Right now I have none, either from Garritan or midi, and have

In my experience, neither conductors nor string players like the

I think it is harder to produce. I called for this combination once,

Yes, many players will react with distaste at the possibility - but then
again, many pretty much avoid ever playing a true sul pont, too.
For an example, I'm fairly sure the end of the Nocturne from the Britten
op. 6 suite, featuring both natural and artificial harmonics, is muted.

This happens all the time, and I could never figured out what is wrong. I have
a score for 4 instruments: cavaquinho, guitar, bass and piano, in that order. I
want the S (segno) and coda signs to appear only at the top instrument and top
piano staff, in the score, and in all parts. So I mark,

Colin,
Take a listen to Webern's Op. 5 String Quartet, 4th movement.
Here is a pdf of the score at the IMSLP:

Not to mention those string players who wouldn't play pizzicato for
