You can't unless you assume that the maximum rotation speed is less than 180 degrees per update. This is due to the aliasing problem. That is the book I was going to get you. You should be good with that one. One last thing, no one is saying not to do what is in your head or to stray from your ideas. Its just that everyone can see that your not qualified to do the projects your seeking out except you. Trust me, I have been their myself. I quickly learned that there was a certain way (a code of design if you will) to do flash. Certain things are common knowledge (like the trace) and some are more in-depth. If you cant even implement the basics on your own, you shouldn't be promising the in-depth. You need to read more. You will figure this out when you have finally learned flash (and you will frown on these postings yourself) or when you get sued for a project you couldn't compete correctly or on time. Can't eat if your getting sued. If you had taken the direction given all this time, some 100 posts ago, you'd be done and eating lobster already.. But alas after you move on and get better there will be someone else with your same mindset of "I know best" (that stubborn thing) posting erroneous questions trying to get ahead by asking everything and studying nothing, and you'll be the one letting them know how to get their questions answered the right way.. :) Best of luck beno.. Actually, my first project is coming very well and I think I'll have it done within a week. I don't believe in shortcuts. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. That's why I took 4 months to build that fully automated python shopping cart, not knowing how I'd eat through that period. Your priorities are pretty messed up dude. Even if the Virgin Islands have money, you're gonna drown yourself with stuff you can not fully accomplish. We have visited this same issue with you before. No matter what your reason is for where you are and why, the fact that you have been out of the industry for 5 years isn't just effecting you by the new technology. It's also about how you think about your project in your head. You have to think of the whole application and start planning out your code in an efficient manner. This takes a lot of experience thinking like a programmer. This, especially with your claim of being a right hemi thinker, I don't think you have. Its not that this list doesn't want to help you, because you have gotten tons of help. Its just your posts seem like stuff that we all had to look up and find out on our own. For us to remind you to put a trace statement time and time again, is just proof you are not really putting forth the effort you need to figure out your own project. We're here to help, but we're not here to help someone crowd source their project. Last time, we recommended you make use of the trace() function liberally, which is basic Flash skills 101, and again, someone had to remind you to use that again today, which you then did, and you found out some things as to why your code wasn't working. Sorry, I'm just saying please be more considerate of the good members of this list who are trying to help you, you need to do your part as well. You asked 2 questions Saturday, then four questions today - one of them was for a project you're not even working on. are you embedding the font? On 6/21/06, Danny Kodicek <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: I'm trying to apply a rotation to a BitmapData draw() command and it's simply not working. Anyone have any pointers about what I'm doing wrong? In the code below, when tRotation = 0, the text is drawn correctly. When it's any other value (including 1), nothing is drawn at all. This is running in a test movie containing either a movieClip or a TextField called txt. And when I replace this with a graphic, it rotates fine. import flash.display.BitmapData; import flash.geom.Matrix; var bmp:BitmapData = new BitmapData(1000, 1000, true); var myMatrix:Matrix = new Matrix(); var tRotation = 1 // test value var rotMatrix:Matrix = new Matrix(); rotMatrix.rotate(tRotation*Math.PI/180); myMatrix.concat(rotMatrix); var translateMatrix:Matrix = new Matrix(); translateMatrix.translate(200,200); myMatrix.concat(translateMatrix); bmp.draw(txt, myMatrix); tClip = this.createEmptyMovieClip("test", this.getNextHighestDepth()) tClip.attachBitmap(bmp, 0) I could manage by creating a second BitmapData object and rotating *that*, but I'm hoping it's just a simple fix somewhere that I've missed. [Flashcoders] Rotation and BitmapData.draw() with text
I'm trying to apply a rotation to a BitmapData draw() command and it's simply not working. - load the image into a child clip - when done, move the child clip: child_mc._x = - (child_mc._width / 2); child._mc._y = - (child_mc._height / 2); - Original Message - From: "Manuel Gonzalez" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Tuesday, November 08, 2005 9:53 PM Subject: [Flashcoders] ROTATION - ROTATION Hi, I'm trying to rotate a movieclip from its center point. The problem is I have loaded an image into the movieclip and it x and y is 0,0. I know that you can not dynamically set the x,y of a movieclip. I would prefer to handle all the actions via actionscript, versus making a clip on stage centering its x,y and adding an empty Movieclip to load into. Has anyone accomplished this via actiionscript. Leads?, solutions or ideas.
