Has anyone used this > data set before? Geobase Canada provides a spec that helps understanding these filenames (I've been there few years ago but don't remember the details). Actually, in order to translate elevation raster into TerraGear work directories you're required to have files in SRTM HGT format (for use with 'hgtchop'). Development has started months ago to build a 'gdalchop' which, as the name says, is using the GDAL library to read almost every elevation raster file format under the sun (including HGT), thus serving as a much more versatile replacement for 'hgtchop'. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, this 'gdalchop' was never released into the public and I'm unable to tell how long it takes until it's ready for general consumption. So, if you're in hurry, try to find HGT files or a tool that allows to translate into HGT, otherwise let's see. [Flightgear-devel] Building Canadian Scenery
This questions is probably a little pre-mature, as I haven't actually been able to compile Terra-gear yet on either Windows or Ubuntu - the various instructions out there all seem to have links to other instructions for things you need - and these are often out of date. Anyway, that's not my question. At some point, I'll hopefully be able to build Terragear. The big things I want to fix is the precision of the elevation model. We're flying UAV's in Newfoundland, which means it's VERY rugged, and 1 km precission simply doesn't cover it. STM1 data isn't available for Canada through the websites quoted on the Terragear instructions. But I mannaged to find 30m precission data, which should be perfect! The question then, is how I format it. The data I've gathered comes from: http://geobase.ca/geobase/en/data/cded/description.html Anyway, when I unpack it, the format is a .dem file. Actuall, it produces two files of identical size called "001n10_0100_deme.dem" and "001n10_0100_demw.dem". I know that the string of numbers is a refernece to the position of this rectangle on the earth. But I'm not sure why there are two files (this is from one rectangle - a single zip file). There's also an xml and an html file, but those are just discriptions and information about the land containted in the data. This is essentially the information that Terragear wants for its DEM, but it's not the file format that is works with. Has anyone used this data set before? Does anyone know what I'll need to do to it to be able to hand it over to Terragear to work with? I'm actually going to be building two of these rectangles of data, but I just listed one here for asking the question. Thanks for the help! Hi Francesco, Brisa Francesco wrote: > what about non german people ? will it be an english or german spoken > meeting ? Torsten has already been pointing at the most relevant items. I'd say, as long as you're 'efficient' in speaking English, the language should be a no-brainer if everyone involed feels as being part of a 'team'. Still, expect the majority of the people (booth staff as well as visitors) to be Germans. I think the most obvious 'requirement' is to have a certain insight into the inner workings of FlightGear. While quite a few visitors feel happy about simply performing a takeoff in a huge aircraft, other's feel a lot more like understanding how different sub-parts of the entire simulation interact. > p.s. You probably don't see the lines Aircraft/SenecaII/Systems/kcs55.nas somewhere at line number 390 ? If so, perform a cvs up of your data tree, esp. the SenecaII directory and check for any error messages. If anything fails, completely remove the SenecaII directory and do a "cvs up SenecaII" from your Aircraft directory. Hope, this helps Torsten -- Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities. [Flightgear-devel] XML schema files for FlightGear
Hi I recently revived the xml schema files I started to create a while ago. While working on the autopilot for the HansaJet, I (re)learned that editing xml files with vi is ok, but having a nice xml editor is much more fun. Once you got used to the automatic popup menus offering the valid tags at your current editing position, you *really* miss them once they are gone... They may also serve as a good reference and documentation. Autogenerated documentation looks like this: http://www.t3r.de/fg/xml/Docs/autopilot.xsd.html (Ignore the AusAddress - this is a bug somewhere) I have quite a few schema files with annotation ready and I think it might be a good idea to share them. What do you think? Does FlightGear need xml schema files? Would anybody besides me use them? What would be the appropriate place to store them? My suggestion: data/Docs/XMLSchema Comments welcome Torsten -- Apps built with the Adobe(R) Flex(R) framework and Flex Builder(TM) are powering Web 2.0 with engaging, cross-platform capabilities.
